    78 gs1000e

I've searched a ton of threads and I haven't found a definite answer to my question. I need a new set of forks because mine are bent.

Will '79 GS850 forks fit my bike? The ebay item doesn't say much else other than #1005 front forks.

I also found '80 GS1000G forks on ebay. A little more money but if they fit, I could care less.

OR, if someone has some forks that would fit and they want to give me a price, just send me a PM.

I just need to locate another set of forks and need a little help. I live in the Chicago area if anyone is close enough for me to take a little trip.

    Thanks.

You might want to post a wanted ad in the parts section, I'm sure you might get a little more traffic than just this section as far as who has them.

According to the parts fiche any 1000 from 78-80 will fit (except for the 'L' model). The 850 will not fit. To figure out what part is interchangeable cross reference with these two sites.

use this one to get the part number. Use the original one from the fiche not a new number that replaced the old one.

Are you sure the 850 would not work? I have a set of 850 and 1000 forks and they look the same.
