    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How strict was school back in the day?

Pretty sure I was in the 8th grade (1967), I sold more magazines than anybody else. I won several prizes, 3 or 4 hunting knives, a big Bowie knife on a wall plaque, and a Mossberg 22 cal. automatic rifle. All were delivered to the school and I took them home on the school bus, my brother still...

Gradually gets harder to start and conks out after 8 miles ish

Our starter-alternator guy said it was easier & quicker for him to modify brushes he had on the shelf than to try to get them for my nieces Honda 250 4 wheeler. For him it seemed no big deal... No clue about your electrical problem.

    Starter motor - dead - gs550e 1980

No clue about where you are, but we have starter- alternator shops that fix this stuff. Mostly cars, trucks, tractors, etc, but they also do lawn mower, boat motor, and motorcycle stuff too.

Too many GSs to choose from

Don't see a problem. It's not some kind of specialty bike like an "S" or a Kawa. "Lawson Replica, it's a GS1000. Whatever "you" like is fine. Put the 78 bodywork on and just be honest, a "79" bike with "78" bodywork cause it looks much better. I'd be wishing the "78" bodywork was from a...

Gosh that's a Great looking bike, didn't notice the mileage on it did you? ...Down here that would be a "1977" GS750B, we had no "E" models in 1977 and all our "E" models had cast wheels, dual discs up front, and a stepped seat... Dang that thing looks good, I had one but mine was the red one, a...

Well, that knowledgeable folk part leaves me out but I still got an opinion. Tubes are hard plastic?? I've not seen them that hard, they do get hard & stiff with age normally not that bad... Folks have had a little help soaking them in a mixture of alcohol and wintergreen oil for a few days to...
