A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Mechanical Ignition Advance

Thanks, Salty. I got the jets from jetsrus, they are supposed to be OEM I believe. I went through the ignition system a few months ago for voltage but will check again just to be sure. I think that I will hurry up my change to the original airbox then because I chose the jet sizes for that...

    Mechanical Ignition Advance

Thanks, it has a 4 into 1 exhaust. I checked and re-shimmed a couple of valves recently. The backfiring seems to be through the exhaust. It also has the intake pods rather than the stock intake. My plan was to put the stock intake back in, but have not done that yet. When I bought the bike...

    Mechanical Ignition Advance

Sorry for the delay, have been busy with work. After I took the advance unit apart, greased it, and put it back in correctly I can see the timing advance when I increase rpms. I still have the backfire issue, though, so I guess I'll start looking at the carbs. I did not have the back-firing...

    Mechanical Ignition Advance

Yes, thanks for responding. When I took the plate off I was able to move the arms with a screwdriver and the cam advanced. I took it apart today and cleaned and lubricated it. When I had it out I thought that maybe the timing cam was installed backwards so when I put it back together I put it...

    Mechanical Ignition Advance

Hi, I have a 1979 GS750, and am still running on breaker points. I was experiencing some back-firing during acceleration and decided to look at the ignition system to see what might be wrong. I put in new points, set them, and did the static timing without issue. The bike starts better now...

    1979 GS750 points

I'm getting my bike ready for the season and noticed that it was back-firing on a short ride. I have not ridden it hard since buying it a few years ago, have been slowly working on it, so have not really put it through its paces. I figured that the backfiring was probably because the timing...

    Stuck clutch - oil issue?

OK, knowing that my fiber plates should be ok I decided to give everything that I had to unstick my clutch. I put it up on the center stand, wired the clutch lever, started and warmed it up in neutral. Then I started it with it in first gear and tried to use the rear brake to unstick the...

    Stuck clutch - oil issue?

Hi, I'm having a similar problem on my 1979 GS750. I have had it apart a couple of times now. I am using the Shell Rotella, have stock springs from the Suzuki dealer. I don't have any binding or ridges such as Nessism has described. I can take it apart, do a soak, and put it back together...

I would appreciate input on LED head lights lights and accessory lights

Guys, I was getting ready to pull the plug on one of these, and it looks like the part number has changed. Now it is the 37270C / C3. It looks like this is an updated product. Is there any reason why this would not fit? Thanks, Andy

VM 26 Holes in carb body, some plugged, some not?

Hi, I was into my carbs today to replace my choke plungers. While I had the carbs out I took the bowls off to have a look and I see what looks like factory holes in the carb bodies. Some of them are plugged, some not. Each of my carbs is different in this respect. I am a carb novice, so I hope...

1979 GS750 RC Exhaust head collars / spacers

Yes, these are the ~1/4 inch collars. I can remove the exhaust again pretty easily, how do I get those collars off? Will they slip over the flange at the end of the pipes?

1979 GS750 RC Exhaust head collars / spacers

OK, continuing ahead, I tried to bolt up Forum cylinder today. When I removed these headers each pipe / cylinder had three collars / spacers between the exterior flange and the interior pipe flange. On cylinder 2 I noticed that when I bolted up the exterior flange one of the three collars was...

1979 GS750 RC Exhaust head collars / spacers

Hi, I am putting my exhaust system back on and when putting it back on I am not happy with how it is going back together. The PO put an RC Systems exhaust on, which I think is a good exhaust system. Each pipe had three collars? spacers? shown in photos, not sure of the exact nomenclature, photo...
