I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Drain plug washer

I see the photo from the original post, I think you guys are saying that there is an old crush washer on his that needed to be pried off? Can you guys take a look at mine and let me know for sure, is that ring an old over-crushed washer or part of the drain plug? Thanks! 20220419_111057 by...

    Intermittent misfire

I would take an impedance reading from spark plug cap to spark plug cap 1 to 4, and 2 to 3. I had a condition on my GS750 where the reading was essentially infinite from 1-4, but the bike ran sometimes.

    Wrong handlebars? 1979 GS750

Thanks, just put up a post in the wanteds, will see where that goes. It does not look like they are that expensive anyway, but why not recycle when we can? Also, was looking at the Flanders Daytona or the GS E bars, but those are much more expensive. They must be really nice....

    Wrong handlebars? 1979 GS750

Thanks, guys. I'm working a LAD tomorrow and taking off Tuesday. So, I'll post more pics then. In the meantime I'll look for the 5 inch rise, 5-6 inch pull-back, and 29 inch width bars. Just did a quick measurement on the current bars and get 27.5 inch width, 3 inch rise, and no (or...

    Wrong handlebars? 1979 GS750

Hi, I am trying to get my recently acquired GS750 to original condition. I have fixed a few zingers from the guys I bought it from, here is perhaps a new one. I just got what I believe is the original master cylinder. The previous master cylinder obscured the rpm gauge. Anyway, it looks like...

Replacement for starter switch contact button.

Just a quick update. The little circular copper starter contact that I bought off the auction site worked fine on my 79 GS750 with the rectangular starter button. The plastic button is square, but the contact point (and spring) are circular, so it fit perfectly. I think this copper contact...

    Ignition coil testing confusion

Thanks. Yes, bought new caps and plugs in a kit off the online bidding site, around $40 for all. The new caps are so much better than the originals, and they have the correct resistance. I tried to clean my old ones just to see if it was possible, and I would say the answer is probably no...

No Spark either side till i release the starter button

I may have missed this, but have you measured the impedance on your spark plug caps (and across the secondary of the coils). In your initial post you mentioned a yellow spark. Yellow is not a good color for a spark, that is a low energy spark. A good spark should be almost white. Under...

    Ignition coil testing confusion

I am going through the electrical system on my recently acquired 1979 GS750 and am now going through the ignition system. The bike has one new coil and the other coil is original. I removed the spark plug caps and the original coil checks out good. But when I measured the caps I get an open...

Replacement for starter switch contact button.

The button is square, but the seat for the spring (and copper contact) is circular. I think it will work, will see in a few days when it gets here.

Replacement for starter switch contact button.

I think I fixed my signature, will see. The 10 year old ebay link was not working, but I did a search and found one for a GS1100E, looks like they are all the same, so ordered it. Will post whether it fits. Thanks again for the photo. Andy...

Replacement for starter switch contact button.

Thanks! That is not how I expected it to look, but guess that little piece of copper could be made. Also, my plastic button is rectangular. Are all of the original GS starter buttons circular? Andy

Replacement for starter switch contact button.

I have a similar problem. I just purchased my 1979 Suzuki GS750 and the seller said that the starter solenoid was bad. After troubleshooting, I think that the starter switch is missing a piece of copper that fits between the button and the spring. On mine it looks like the spring rests on a...

    Taking apart the ignition switch

OK, thanks, looks like a thin smear of dielectric grease is the answer. I guess I'll use a smear down below for the ball bearings as well.

    Taking apart the ignition switch

I am in the process of cleaning my ignition switch on my 1979 GS750. So far, I have: Remove headlight Removed the two bolts holding the headlight can, 12 mm socket. Pull the bucket away to get room. Disconnect the connector going to the switch. This is the connector with red, orange...

    Who needs a SH775?

Wow, the timing on your post was perfect. First one (broken-tab Can-Am) is gone, I'll use spades. Thanks for this post, I just started down the road of looking for a regulator/rectifier, and this save me a lot of time. Andy
