A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Putting a GS550 back on the road

The reason some of those parts may not shine up is they have a clear coat on them, use 600-800 grit wet & dry sand paper and see if it takes off the clear coat, or use paint stripper. Nice job so far. David.

    The GSResources 2018 Balance Sheet

I was wondering the same thing, a Balance Sheet should show the account balances. The numbers posted are the Income Statement for Jan 2018. Why does it show two separate hosting fees of $56.99 on Jan 3rd 2018, is it $120 month to host? I strongly agree that we should all step up and...

Honda guy with a Suzuki: GS550 project

I saw you asked for vendors in one of your earlier posts, not sure if you got any responses, so here are my two. I use Parts Outlaw as my go to vendor and Z1 Enterprises is also very good, but you need to call them as they don't have the Suzuki fiches listed on their Web Site...

    1982 GS550M Katana Rebuild

Mike, looking good, I love that nothing is too good for this rebuild. I too was keeping an eye out for when you reappeared with new updates, thanks for keeping your thread alive. David.

    Mecum Motorcycles Las Vegas

Rich, that was a really nice "S" and $12,000 is a good price for it. The 82 Katana 1000 went for $14,000 I think, watched it but forgot already. David,

    Mecum Motorcycles Las Vegas

Wow some nice bikes in there, and selling for very fair prices. I did a search on Suzuki only and spent 30 minutes just in awe. Wow, I'd like a few of those bikes in my garage. David.

Might pick up a new to me 84 gs650

Welcome to the site Chance. There's not a lot of negotiating room on a $230 bike, so even free it may not be a "good" deal, it will depend on what's needed to get it running. If you can do 95% of the work yourself and are mechanically/electrically inclined you maybe able to get it back on the...

    GS1100ET Side Covers

Yes, black plastic, I went to the trouble of checking with the dealer to make sure they ordered the correct part number and the part clearly indicated the colour, only to find they showed up black and unpainted. But nice that they are still available.

    Earl's Brake Line Thread

Awesome, thanks Ed for the write up and tutorial. I have used the "other brand" and have had issues with them being too long and making them not sit right. This solution should work well, the only concern I have would be the fact that you need to cut the coloured jacket back so that it's...

    Alternate seat for 81 650e?

I just bought this cover and it worked out very well, if you do go this route, the secret to having it fit well is it needs to be warmed up till its quite hot, I left it in the hot sun for a few hours, then I was able to slowly stretch it over the seat pan and keep working it till it was all...

    GS1000 valve cover bolt broken

From looking at the picture that is possible to remove, if the vise grip doesn't work find a welder/machinist who can tig or mig weld a nut on and then it will undo as normal. Removing the head is a very expensive and time consuming option as you will need new head and base gaskets. As far as...
