    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

$1 Quick Turn Throttle Mod

I did this on the DRZ (dual cables) the other day using a variation on the ziptie method.
There was still slush and ice on the road when I tried it out, so I didn't wring it out too much, but it does seem quicker. Never got to full throttle since I'm a sissy. I did notice an increase in effort, but no binding. I only increased the diameter where the pulling cable wraps aroundas I think it would serve no purpose other than possible holding the throttle partly open to do the other.
 
My wrist is seriously in pain right now from a 2 hour highway ride home from a day trip. (not a fan of the throttle rocker BTW). All I could think about for the last hour was doing a search for this mod. I'm going to nip this in the bud tomorrow. thanks jim.

ran better than the cavs are doing, I'd be afraid of superman if I were in LA! she ran great...real smooth. I'm already craving more power though.:rolleyes: I have the 47.5 pilots, and should prob put them in, but I'll wait for a raining day on that.

Installed my pvc throttle mod today. Snapped right in place in about 10 minutes. No binding, and I didn't have to adjust the cable. Thanks Jim!

Went for a ride, and WOW! What a difference. I barely need to apply pressure on my throttle rocker to get all the throttle I need, in any gear. I never make it to WOT throttle, cuz I'm a wuss. But if I did want to wrap it, clearly there would be less stress on the wrist.

Posplayer gets my vote for "Inventor of the Year"

Note to Maro. I find that the throttle rocker puts pressure on just the worst spot on the wrist to aggravate my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I'm hoping this little gizmo will reduce that pressure. Especially on long rides.

Thanks Tom,
As you know I had put the mod on my GS750 and liked it but was hesitant on the 1100 especially after the 1168 kit. Well as far as ergonomics, I could hardly feel it was there, it just took less wrap to get to WOT. Pulled an accidental wheelie as well :dancing:

I will see if I can whip out some more before the trip. :lol:
 
Umm... yeah definitely doing this when I swap handlebars, my commute on the highway in the morning will be so much more fun. Thanks for the tip!
 
Anyone tried it on the dual cable throttle for the VM's yet?

I'm going to do this one on the 750 when I get to that stage.....

:-kNow I spend most of my time at between 1/8 to 1/4 throttle sometimes half or a little more if I want to play, but why do you need to roll on faster, I would find the around town slow speed stuff hard to manage.:-k

It just takes away that last 1/4 turn so you don't have to readjust your wrist for WOT.
It's not that radical at all.
I like it cause I do WOT at times for sh!ts and giggles.

Not sure if it will work on the push-pull throttle. I'd give it a try on the red hotrod if I had another one. :-\\\

I'll let you know how it turns out, I'm gonna snag a piece of PVC from work and do this when i put on new bars and grips. I'll let you know if you need to make any big adjustments.

Yes I did it on mine and I do like it:dancing:! I did have to 'clearance" the bosses inside the housing just a bit. But I'd still like to have just a bit less throttle spring pull...but I'll live with it-for now

Did this on my '80 1100ET and it helped a lot at the drag strip. Good idea!
 
Just got back from Home Depot and did this tonight. It took me longer to cut the damned 10mm section of pipe than it took to do the entire installation. After a slight cable adjustment and a quick run around the block, I like it - it's a heck of a lot easier on the wrist to accelerate hard, that's for sure. The return spring does pull a lot harder, but I expected that. Time will tell if it's pulling hard enough to be a nuisance, but I don't think it will.

Of course, now I have almost 2 ft of pipe sitting on my workbench, so if any of you guys want one shoot me a PM, lol.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to do that huh... turns out I broke the damn throttle tube in the process and bought an R1 tube. Same effect, just cost me $10. 5 star mod though.
