I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I know you can swap in a 1000 motor in a 750 frame, But can you put a 750 motor in a 1000 frame? Or is the kickstart going to be in the way?

Not sure bout the kickstart itself, but I *think* the 750 case is longer because of it. not sure the rear mount would fit...

Going the other way now, the 750 engine is taller, and longer, as well as heavier than the 1000 engine and I don't think it would fit. The kickstart area would be most of the problem.

Well Im building up a 1085 motor for my 750. But I have so many spare parts from other bikes. I have a rolling 79 gs1000 and figured I would make a very low budget chopper With all the extra parts. I have a basement full of forks, wheels, seats, handle bars. Instead off tossing it in the trash, I would just make something to beat on.

Say you got a set of dual disc forks from a 78 or 79 that you might be willing to trade for a set of CLEAN single disc forks and maybe a lil cash?

I got forks up the yin yang, I dont need any more.
-83 GS1100E Dual disc anti dive forks,
-82 GS550L Single disc forks
-79 GS750L Dual forks( I might use these for my chopper project)
-79 GS1000E Dual disc forks( I might want to put these on my 750, but am undecided)
Pick one

Ahh, i was hoping you had a set of pre 80 750 forks with dual disc. I wouldnt mind the 1100 or the 1000 forks, but they'd need the tree changed and bearings changed, and i dont have a 37mm tree set.

I have 78 GS750E forks on my bike now. The 79 GS1000E forks are the closest thing, but 37mm. The GS1100E forks are shorter but are made for a 19" wheel. I have axles, triple clamps, calipers and rotors for all these front ends too.

Hrmmm
Now thats getting a bit tempting. I have been wanting to swap the cafe front end with dual front disc, then do the Kawi 2 pot caliper mod, but have been hesitant in going for it. I have the bike done, but I am going to change my spoked wheels for a nother set of spoked wheels, so it wouldnt be THAT much more work to pull the whole front end off anyway. Lemme mill it for a bit. Ballpark figure, what would you want for the forks and tree? Dont need calipers or rotors.

How about $30 plus shipping, since there still attached to the bike. I can probably get you a picture tomorrow. Will need some cleaning up.

Cool, if you can get a pic that would be great. Tubes pitted badly? or just need (dirty) cleaning?

ehh, a few specs of rust on the chrome, I dont think there really pitted. Ill see.

Josh, I have 83 1100E forks & tree on my bike. simple swap & I can give you the bearing sizes you need. I needed to grind off a bit of the steering stop on the lower tree. Other than that, it is straightforward.

Cool! Im just not sure about that whole antidive rattrap. I guess i could simply block it off. Did it lower the bike at all? I just picked up another set of spoked rims, and this one has the plastic cap removed, so i can mount up dual disc...
