    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

Actually, she took a dump on their lawn. But as soon as I mentioned I rode Japanese bikes, the guy walked away from me so I got in my car and left.

Not a problem Griff, Yeap Harley's are slow but I like riding mine with forward controls, it's a different feeling plus I like to tinker on them too. The good thing is I can go banging through all 5 gears and not get thrown in jail compared to a GS, Busa or ZX14 :lol:

Mid 13's would be the norm for todays stock Sportster's, ported heads, exhaust and cams can get you mid 11's if your not a heavy guy like me for less than 2 grand.

That's why I take both to the track at the same time, I can always say I have one of the fastest and one of the slowest bikes there. A little weird......... right ??

I got a 90" piston/jug kit that will go on one of these days, shooting for 100 hp and 100 ft-lbs of torque. I'd like to have a Big Twin Killer that does 100 mph in the 1/8.

I like what you did with that Sportster! Not like I was in it for a long time but in my wrenching career I never saw anyone get that extreme with a Harley! Lots of the typical loud pipe & carb crowd. Good on you for building it!
 
I could see a hot rod Sportster. The Storz Performance Tracker stuff is very cool looking, and 100 hp shouldn't be that hard to get. I know that Joe Minton was getting that from streetable project bikes in the 80s. I thought about doing it back then. I doubt that I will ever do it, but it would be fun to do.

LOL! I was following along the whole time Octain! You guys really give it to each other huh? As you probably know some of the Harley sites have no spice what so ever, I like it over here.

To be honest I have never ridden anything but a Harley for an extended period of time. Had an SX-350 in my youth , not a real Harley I know, my shovel and the Heritage. Am looking forward to getting this GS1000 on the road because the first ride is going to be mine. Can't wait to see what all the fuss is about with these GS's ;)

Search the word "Harley" if you wanna see some real laughs. These guys are mean! Hard pressed to find this kinda razzing on a Harley forum, that's for sure.

You'd better change into some brown underwear before you take out the GS if you have only ridden hogs before:rolleyes:

Combat does "skunk" reference color scheme? Before my friend got a hold of spray paint this one I'm working on was blue and white

I wouldn't go that far.. Both are fun in their own rights. Kinda like riding a two stroke dirt bike vs a four stroke to me.

Will do. I guess its a Suzuki enthusiast site, stands to reason they rib the Harley owners.

Skunk is for the 78 Black w/ white stripe, if you are working on a stock colored blue and white[ Light blue and white ] it is probably a Cooley. Does it have a little 1/4 faring? We like pics.:D

A Skunk is the black and white GS1000E from 1978. The same year, they had a less expensive model, also slightly lighter and quicker, which had alloy rims and spokes, a single disc, non cancelling turn signals, and a non halogen headlight. It also had a flat seat with no hump in the back. It was called the GS1000 as opposed to the GS1000E for the more upscale model. It came in some other colors besides black with a white stripe. It did have the same 1978 only fuel tank and tail section with the indention on the side for the stripe.

This one is mine. The tank is non-indented. It was replaced by a Suzuki dealer with a 1980 tank after the original rusted out. It also has been upgraded to later brakes, fork brace, and a number of other small things.

Haha! There is some Harley hating going on for sure, some of it not in good fun either :( Some of the threads are in an area I can't access
