A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Hey Steve, yeah, my left knee was protesting most of the day, hard to keep my foot in the right position on the footpeg.

Norm, I don't know Dave from Vcyclenut, but I did see one 4 cylinder RR out there.

Only ride over an hour so far this year:
Rode the RT into Grand Rapids for service, and new tire.
Afterwards, instead of 50 minute ride home, and Since I was over that way in a direction I seldom go, went further out in that direction.
Stopped by this scenic place. Fallasburg Covered Bridge.

Made the ride home into a 3 1/2 hour ride, mostly country side.

THat has been my longest ride so far this season.

Has been unseasonably cold.

Most rides have been just out for morning coffee downtown, if over over 40degF. This morning was just barley 50degF.

maybe might, or maybe might not, get out of coffee shop for a walk along the channel

Or evening ride to beach/pier for sunset

Did get GK out a couple times (posted about one of those occassions).

Last week me and some buddies went on our first multi day trip of the year. Pretty easy on at just over 2000kms....trip to my favorite place in BC...the Kootenay's

A buddy of mine in Osoyoos stopped by out hotel to show us his latest build....hard tail....and he just took off for an event in Mexico....yes, he's riding a hard tail from BC to Mexico!!! Lol...

On my way to Florida, I spent the day romping around in the Tennessee/North Carolina area. I rode from Johnson City Tennessee to the Tail of the Dragon. Then I rode the Cherohala Skyway to Tellico Plans. I was going to stay a moto-campground, but decided to stay at a moto-lodge. "The Lodge in Tellco" what a excellent decision. It has a big motorcycle garage to park your cycle. With shop tools, oil, chain lube... and rags. I went into town and had a fantastic dinner and chatted with some very nice folks. Monday was a traveling day 694 miles, 101°F at times. I'm at Punta Gorda Florida now. I have to wash the motorcycle then go find a Tiki Bar...

I tried to post pictures, but it said the file was to large. I cropped the picture, but still to large...

It's not cropping the photo that is most effective but a "resize" to get the file size below whatever limit (something in the range of 2.5mb as I recall?)

Pic from about half way up the switchback highway up to Pine Mountain through Rose Valley in southern California.

.....
THanks for pics of your adventure.
I thought that scene could be what I recall along CA76.
But now I see Pine Mountain is somewhat between LA and Bakersfield.
Does look like interesting place to ride.

Obligatory glamor shot
Yes.

Dragon Fly - splattttt.

Last few weeks have been unseasonably cold and many days were wett.

So (same as I said 3 weeks ago) most all rides, if any,
were morning out-for-coffee rides.
Bakery Shop that has coffee,

or Record Store that has coffee.

or later evening rides down to the beach/pier for sunset

Recent few days have been nicer, into the 70s.

Did get out for 2 1/2 hour ride one day,

and a 3 1/2 hour ride yesterday on a more interesting/challanging route that has curvey road following a river for a while, crosses over then follows along again.
Stopped here for a road side pic

and turned around to other side of the road, so could get a Bob Baatfam perspective

I took two of my grandkids for rides yesterday. My 7 year old grandson, up until recently, had not been very interested in riding. In fact He's been afraid of it. He'd sit on my bike but never wanted to even hear it run. That may have something to do with his other grandpa's old chopper with straight pipes. Yesterday when the little guy sat on my GS and let me start it his eyes opened wide. That fear disappeared and turned into excitement. He even beeped the (pathetic excuse for a) horn a couple times. When he asked for a ride I was happy to oblige. We said
had to wait till his dad got home though. After years of not wanting anything to do with his own 50cc dirtbike, we were all suprised in his sudden interest.

We went from one end of the street to the other, then around the block a few times, over several speed humps. Each turn got a little tighter, a little faster, and his smile got bigger. He absolutely loved it!

Now my 4 year old granddaughter wanted to ride. That helmet actually fit her better than him. Her legs are too short to reach the pegs, but the upper shock mount nuts I use for tying down gear worked well enough for her tiny feet, and a short ride. She sat way back where the seat rises up, whereas her brother clung tightly to me. Both had a good hold on my belt though, and didn't feel as if they'd fall off. She's more of a risk taker in most things and wanter to go faster. Faster? You got it, I said. 20 mph over the speed humps was enough to lighten our butts on the seat and get the butterflies in her stomach. We got up to 30 on the straight road and she wanted to go faster. The genie's out of the bottle now!!
