A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can’t find 4-1 headers

Forum Newbie
Hey guys, just joined here because I inherited my Dads ‘82 GS650G when he passed in December. She needs lots of love, so I decided I’m going to bring her back as a cafe racer. (Purists, please don’t hate me 🤣) I realize it’s not the most ideal bike for a cafe build but this one is very special to me as it is the bike I and my brothers learned on, and my Dad bought it the year I was born. It’s a second bike for me and I’ve always loved cafe racers so I’m gonna bring her in the garage this fall and get started. But right now I’m just planning and sourcing parts. The one thing I haven’t located is 4-1 headers. Delvic doesn’t offer any for this bike. Is there anyone else to check with ? Or is there cross- bike compatibility? I see GS750 4-1 headers, those wouldn’t fit would they ? Cutting up the oem pipes and building my own is my last resort but I’d really rather not do that. Any info on where to get 4-1 headers is appreciated.
Thanks !

Vance & Hines (V&H) seems to me to be what Kerker was in the 70s (and 80s): the standard, the default, the go-to for high quality pipes.
Have you tried them? I own two different models for my '82 11E, and I'm aware of a third they make. Your 650 is not as common an engine, but I would expect they made one that would fit.

Thanks for the response ! I checked Vance & Hines, they don’t list anything pre 1986…
Look for used. As I said, they made the "Street Megaphone," "SS" (canister) and a drag model that might have been called "Sidewinder" that fit the '82 11E.

The 'Street Megaphone' is louder (and shorter) than the canister. The drag model limits lean on the right side. Good luck.

MAC wasn't known for quality, but they made (or make, not sure if still in business) pipes for a huge # of different bikes
