As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

All,
My headlight on my 79 425 GS is burned out. Does anyone have any quick ideas other than going to the rotten local dealer ( Who returned my bike's carbs back to me in a box, said he couldn't find parts, and charged me 100 bucks for a oil change?)
I am going to try to have the bike back on the road by Monday.
Thanks,
Kent

Check ebay for a new one and run with your high beam on while your waiting for the new one to come in.

That's a good idea but reach over the instruments and point the headlight down a lot if you do that. There are universal aftermarket headlight kits that come with a bucket, lens, and bulb. Check out a different dealer that has catalogs to look through.

Sorry I left out the last part of that tip. You don't want to blind anybody.

yeah, get a new bucket/lens/bulb... you've probably got the same lovely 6 7/8" headlight that i've got. Why did they make such a stupid sized headlight?

The headlight size is a pain to deal with.

I opted to go with a new H4 replacement on my 450. I ordered the kit from Dennis Kirk (wich was supposed to fit) and when it came in, it didnt fit. Because i was stuck i put on a bucket from a Honda 750. Its a temporary fix for the time being. The bucket isnt deep enough to house all those wires.

I posted a similiar question not too long ago and got a great link for a whole chrome assembly.

First headlight on the page. Im going to order one in the near future because from what ive seen on ebay, the headlight buckets are only going for $20 less, and they are damaged in some way (dents, scratches, rust, ect...)

All,
Thanks for the suggestions on a replacement headlight. After closer inspection, it appears that the plastic headlight bucket is also cracked, either someone dropped it, or it's stress cracks.
The bike does run. After I took the carbs apart, blew them out with compressed air, and replaced a few o-rings, fired right up.
