I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Darn. I was hoping no one would say that.
Looks like I have the speedo glass - yours for the cost of the postage. For the MOT you can either pop in a speed converter (a mini gearbox that fits on the end of your speedo cable and converts KPH to MPH) or put a sticker on the speedo glass.

Exhaust Bolts here we go .....
Nothing broken yet. I've tried the penetrating oils and WD-40 and next on the list is the blow torch.

I don't think these are original bolts. These are Hex bolts. Can anyone confirm?
Stand by your beds to see what happens.
Oh and I have also Ebayed some 75mm long 6mm hex bits for the impact driver hoping they will help.

Hey you. Thank you so much. What I will do is to wait until I get the speedo dismantled and get the glass / perspex out. I may be able to clean it up with some polishing but if it is ingrained I will get back to you and take you up on the offer.

Nope, not the stock bolts, but that is good. Hopefully they came out ok.
What penetrating oil are you using? Just to check - WD40 isn't any good for this.
I am using some Halfords own brand Shock and Unlock but it evapourates very quickly.
I am going to use the heating and candle method next and I have some bits on order for my impact driver to get into those 6mm hex holes.

Might be worth you trying 3-in-one Professional High Performance Penetrant Spray; that works well and you can soak bolts in it as it doesn't evaporate. That plus the old trick of ATF mixed with cellulose thinners are really useful tricks in the armoury.

Trying to get the airbox apart.
Can anyone help? Does the top half of the airbox come apart from the bottom half? I want to repaint the metal bottom half but there are 2 screws holding it together so I don't know what to do. You can't access these 2 screws from the top because the plastic moulded part is in the way.

These are the screws causing the problem:

I took a look at mine and there a 4 screws holding the two pieces together. The side you show in the photo has two screws in the recesses. On mine the rubber boots for connecting the carbs are still in the plastic air box, but it looks like if you pull the boots for #1 and #4 the screws will be reveiled.

Thanks to some feedback on this brilliant forum, I was able to find a way of getting the airbox to break apart. The top part being plastic and the bottom half being metal. I want to respray the metal half so I needed to get the top half off and there didn't appear to be a way of doing it - or was there?

Now we can strip the paint, prepare the metal and send for painting. I have to decide on powder coat or rattle can now.

Perfect Charlie. I didn't think the boots were a seperate component. I thought the top part was one unit. But as soon as I released the copper rings and pulled the boots out, just as you suggested, the screws were revealed. Bingo. Now the parts are apart. Thank you.

Taking a look at the air suspension today. I always thought it was original equipment and it does carry a Suzuki sticker. It's just that I have not seen any other GS1100 G examples with this type of suspension:

I am still there with the exhaust bolts. I have been applying my mixture of 50% brake fluid and 50% cellulose thinners. I am putting it on twice a day. I have also got a nice hex bit for my wrench which gives me quite a good bite on the bolt.

As you have got allen bolts in there you can give them a good sharp smack with an impact driver; the shock of the smack will help free off any corrosion.

We finally got them all out. I think I can write a book on this now.

See that bolt on the left; that was the first one that gave me all the trouble. Looks like it has something around it on it's top half (bottom half on photo as bolts upside down).
