This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.
The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.
A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
bump in the road?
You can PM me for my PayPal info.It appears to change direction from a straight line to another straight line. I'd go half a dollar for the bump explanation.
Yeah... about that. Digital photography is great in that one can take a boatload of pics and delete the garbage. Also, it makes it possible to review an image on the spot and adjust as needed. I do both, yet despite this, I still sometimes come home and end up disappointed with my results. It?s fun, and at times humbling. It may seem odd, but this site and some fellow photography enthusiasts here have gotten me back into something that I gave up on years ago. I?m thankful for that.I think you have a grip on night shots..![]()

Here's a re-edit of one from a hike to an alpine lodge (Skoki Lodge) in Banff National Park several years ago. Just clearing up after good old mountain rain storm.

No. The photo was taken with my old dslr and 18mm and aperture sonewhere in the middle. Only a slight crop to get rid of some vignetting. Tge obly fiddlibg I did was a slight colour adjustment vut mainky some lightning of the fore to mid ground grasses.
P1150406 by Dave Redman, on FlickrYep, another beautiful shot. Sandy, did you do anything special to get such sharp focus throughout?
I only ask, because literally just yesterday, I started goofing around with in camera focus stacking.

Squirrel Overhead by R John Thieda, on FlickrFurther to your question of focus stacking I find shooting mid aperture with a wide angle it's not really necessary for big landscapes, especially if you concentrate on focusing about midway through the photo to use all your available depth of field. That's the easy answer unless you're obsessed with mathematical formulas. LOL. Unless of course you're shooting with the camera very close to the ground or at longer focal lengths. I do prefer using focus bracketing vs focus stacking as you have more control over output. Focus stacking is generally an automated in camera feature where multiple focus points are taken and processed in camera where bracketing is done threw post processing multiple images the camera took at different focus points. Yes the terminology can be quite confusing.
