A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Why postal service in Canada is dying

This is for a small parcel coming to me from SUSA. It has already cleared Customs and is "on its way:

Expected delivery

1 to 12 business days

I have nothing but good things to say about CP. Lots of times I order a motorcycle part from Ontario or Quebec and it arrives in a week. From Ab. or B.C. generally 2 to 3 days. The local staff at the Post Office are a bit persnickity but the production workers and system works well. They should half the residential delivery dates and go heavier into parcel competition IMO. I have ordered parts from the states and their Postal system has crazy delay times, like 3-5 day delays in one location is the norm.

I have a " Hate/Hate " relationship with Canada Post . The last four deliveries I have received I dutifully hung around for but the lazy a$$ just put up a " we tried to deliver but you weren't home " tag on the front door of my building . So I have to go to the post office to get my package . I've complained numerous times to no avail ..... My last package was four bone china Wedgewood plates arriving from Ontario . I contacted the seller trying to get him to ship another way but he insisted they would arrive intact ...... Amazingly they actually did ..... As for shipping time it was roughly what the seller told me . But it wasn't international as it was in your case Ron .....

I can only guess why this is called "tracking" as its status is totally unknown until it shows up.

I have to pay taxes on it so I should be home on day of delivery, ...but CP tells me to guess at which day within more than two-weeks

The initial part of the shipping, from USA, is already completed: it cleared Customs on Monday....

It was only after customs clearance was completed that the Canada Post track system said delivery may be this week....next week....or possibly sometime in the third week.

Wait a minute.....12 days.....I remember the song......maybe it will be a Christmas arrival.

They can be frustrating.
just after the above was posted Canada Post website updated and said it would be delivered today {Tuesday) by 3PM!!!

Fantastic service!!

I waited at home for them and.....no one came.
Until I went to bed before midnight it had the same message.

This morning I checked their tracker again, thinking delivery should be today.....(Wednesday) right?

Nope. this morning, their tracker (screen shows updated at 0800 AM ) says delivery expected tomorrow ....

Time-wise the service would be still be good, but I cannot say home every day waiting for them., which I have to do as taxes have to be paid on delivery and their site also says they only accept payment in person.....

No you don't .... If you aren't home the package will be at your local Post Office the following day and you can pay your taxes there .....

Thanks Garth. Their website told me that, too. Apparently there is a moment when you can pay online, but once they assign a delivery it has to be paid in person. I have not had to pay anything to Canada Post for years so I am not sure where they would send it. The nearest post office that I know of is in a Shopper's Drug Mart store about two miles from my home.

The notice they leave will have which postal outlet your package went to . I'm the same, mine is a Shoppers Drug Mart too . Only mine is three blocks away ......
