A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    hand falling asleep at throttle

When I put the superbike bars on my 750, the bars picked up a lot more vibration. I plan on trying this stuff, but probably not till next year. http://www.barsnake.com/

    Front brake switch

No regular vehicle inspection here in Ohio. If there were, I probably wouldn't bother removing the switch pieces. I'd never be able to find them to replace them at inspection time.

    Front brake switch

When evading a car with flashing lights, it can be useful to turn off the bike, kill the lights, and pull into yard with some large shrubs. The brake lights just warn the pursuers that they need to slow down and look in dark corners, instead of blasting past at high speed so you can resume your...

    ignorant newbie nneds tool info

The impact driver linked to is the one I have used for 20 some years. The best choice, IMO. I also recommend looking for a sale a Sears. You can't beat Craftsman tools for the combination of price, quality, and availability. If you're going to disassemble your old bike to part it out, buy a can...

Tire Question: So I can't ride anymore?

I bought a 12V compressor that is small enough to fit in the pocket of my fairing. Then I installed a power socket on the bike. I just wired it to the accessory screws on the fuse box, and tied the wire to the frame. The wire is long enough to run to my tankbag if I want to power something for a...

Frustrated and I want to ride!!!

They have the plug boots on them, so they should be ready to go as soon as I can strip them off the bike. I have commitments on Saturday, but should be able to make down to Akron on Sunday. PM me with your address, and we'll plan on me being there around 1-2 pm, as long as that works for you.

Frustrated and I want to ride!!!

I will be out of town for most of the week, but I could hook up with you this weekend with the coils from the GS1100 I just picked up. You could at least see if that helps get you started. Of course I bought the bike with the head off, so I can't verify that the coils are good, but there isn't...

    Tire recomendations?

I've had good results using the Spitfires, but some of the more aggressive riders don't care for them. I had a Cheng Shin on the front of my 750 when I got it, but wouldn't put another one on. The construction of the tire just doesn't have enough stiffness to suit me. It may be OK, but I...

    Recent Solo Tour - 1982 GS1100GL

Cool trip. My dream tour is to take US 89 from border to border, starting up in Glacier. Someday, probably not till I retire.

    Front brake switch

So just what do you propose as a solution to someone tailgating you? When I commute, there is almost always a stretch of road where traffic is heavy. I travel in the far left lane as much as possible to avoid people entering and exiting the freeway. When trafic slows, you sometimes end up with...

    Front brake switch

I rode for years without the front vrake light connected. I know what times you are refering to, but lately I have noticed too many drivers on my commute following a little closer than I'm comfortable with, and my insitnive reaction when suddenly braking to slow just a bit is with the front...

    Front brake switch

I ordered a new front brake switch from Partsnmore.com last month, mostly to help me reach the minimum order amount. I had broken the little plastic piece that holds the spring and the copper contact, and have been riding without the brakelights working with the front brake. I just got done...

Phosphoric acid wash for mildly rusty tank?

It's not phosphoric acid, but I used this stuff on some rusty bolts, and it works great. http://http://www.evapo-rust.com/ You don't have to worry about contact with your skin, and it's readily available at Autozone. I would rinse it out of the tank with acetone or alcohol, then rinse with a...

I believe the side covers are made out of ABS. Any good epoxy should work well.

    Shorter front brake line

When I checked the prices at BikeBandit for replacement brake lines, it is almost as much as SS lines, if you shop around a bit. For hydraulic lines at a local shop, just look in the yellow pages.

    acetone increases fuel mileage??

I heard about this at Mid Ohio. I stopped in at a seminar that Craig Vetter had on the mileage contests he used to hold back in the 80's. One of the items brought up was using a small amount of actone in the gas to increase mileage. It was only about 2-4 ounces per tank of gas, but it increased...

    Cell Phone Holder

Where I carry my cellphone, if it is smashed, I either already have the answer to whether or not there is a god, or will shortly. As to whether or not I can get a signal, well, you do what you can, and hope for the best.

    Cell Phone Holder

I carry my cell phone in a pocket when I ride. Preferably the inside vest pocket of my riding jacket. Sometimes I hear it, sometimes not. Sometimes I feel the vibration, sometimes not. But I wouldn't mount it on the bike, even if I wanted to talk while riding (I consider riding a perfect excuse...

    Carburator Syncronzation

I bought the vacuum gauges you're looking at. You need to adjust the valves on the lines to keep the needles from bouncing, but once you get them set they work fine. I bought them because I don't want mercury around the house. My garage is too much of a mess, and I don't want to deal with a...
