A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Looks familiar... except I didn't use aircraft paint!

Did you sand blast or chemically strip the frame?

Blasted it with charcoal, 8 bux for 50 pounds but it sure does make a mess as I have no cabinet, my back yard smells of bbq

Thank you Chuck, it turns out the original color was the darker blue and I was seeing the over spray on the underside which looked like the teal color. Beautiful bikes btw.

Still haven't decided a color scheme as yet.

I do like that original unveiling photo in Paris back in the day....

Got the forks apart and was able to straighten the uppers using a hydraulic press. No cracks and the chrome stayed good.

Ordered progressive springs and leakproof seals and dust caps, should be here by Thursday so will re-assemble the front end this weekend. Swing arm, center stand, triples and headlight ears got color and clear on them. May have this thing rolling by the end of the weekend. Still welding and forming on the gas tank pieces, its coming along. Thanks for the encouraging words, it's been tons of fun so far :dancing:

GS 1000 wheelbarrow - got the forks & triples finished and mounted loose, finished initial sanding and polish on the front wheel / spokes and fork lowers, will finish em up over the winter - so far every nut bolt and washer either polished and clear coated or replaced - new steering stem and wheel bearings - needed some visual progress - excuse the green tape and greasy paw prints :D

Get youirself a MOTHERS POWER CONE polishing wheel and chuck it in an air tool. Go at a medium speed and that baby will clean the spokes and rim like a mirror..not cheap but well worth the time and effortless cleaning it does.

Great idea there Chuck, I may pick one up to try it. I have a modified small cotton wheel I use now but something that comes to a point would be better.
