A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Read the insructions on the can for the curing process.. I dont know what youn used but the best way I can figure to do a good "cureing" is to start the bike for maybe 5 or 10 minutes at a time..just till the jugs get decently hot. Let it sit about an hr and do that again but increase the run time a bit. I found that if you just start it and it gets really hot it will get little bubbles in the finish. Cure slowly and build up is the key I have had sucess with.

Good idea Chuck, did something similar on the 550 and it seemed to cure ok.

Got the coil relay in, .08 drop now is all, I'll take it. Fuel tee installed, she no leaky.

Got it outside and put the bottle on it and fired right up. I took a video, it's uploading now and I will post it in a bit.

Isn't that bottle up a little too high? Most I've seen have been right at the handlebar height.

Glad you got it running again though.

Sounds like she needs the sync real soon. Congrats on the start up. Its a good moment for sure!!

Thanks, felt really good to hear it start up. Lots of blood and sweat to this point, the payoff in the end will be well worth it.

There is something special about taking a rusted hulk back to a reborn state, like it talks to ya during.

Gonna sync it all up this weekend. Been working the brakes last few days, both calipers and both mc's re-sealed. Shooting for a weekend ride if all goes well.

Finished up the brakes. Earl's lines made up and installed, bled em all, feel really good. Few odds and ends to tie up in the morning then ride time.

Interesting that you painted the caliper silver.

Eric

I glass bead blasted the caliper then put 2 coats of clear over it. I thought the raw metal look would look different and nice but not sure about it yet, what do you think of it.

Not sure yet.
It kind of matches the engine, rims, carbs, sprockets, etc.
Waiting for the completed project to form an opinion.
Of course, the ONLY opinion that counts is your own. ;)

Eric

Weeeeeeeeeee, ran it down the road a few miles. I like the slight forward feel of the daytona bars versus the original, comfortable.

Power and acceleration was good. Brakes are good and ride was nice. I rebuilt the petcock but it's not shutting off so gonna replace it.

Just before the short ride:

It's 3:30 am and I'm block sanding, weather is going to be perfect this weekend for painting.

Finished the wet sand with 600. 2 coats of Omni MP182 hi-build 2k followed by 2 more and another wet sand. First medium coat of Jet-Glo deep red on, so far so good.
