DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

the primer is duplicolor gray primer, then the orange is regular omni and the black is omni plus with omni 270 clear and the mh278 hardner. I checked it tonight i will color sand it or wet sand it probably sunday i will get a pic up afterwards. i put six coats of clear on it and that took forever letting each one get dry enough to keep it from running. paint looks deep though with that many coats of clear.

I wet sanded my tank with 1500 wet sand then down to 2000 grit. My buddy had all the stuff to buff and polish it since he is very picky on his car detailing. He offered to polish it for me and I couldn't be happier with inthe result

wow, that is extremely smooth! What kind of clear did you use? Is it gas safe?

i uses Omni MH270 with the MH278 hardener it is suppose to be gas safe after it cures. as i understands but we will see. i put six coats of clear on makes the paint look deep. only own fault in the tank is i can see every surface flaw on the body work. that was my first time with body work as well.

very nice man, making me want to do mine now. but I don't want to be without my ride for long enough to do it. looks like you can reach into the paint.

Waiting on some shims from the club and have to sync my carbs and bleed my brakes again front aren't wanting to bleed very well.

that's pimp! I like that. just need a tool bag under the back of the seat.

it definitely needs a black seat cover. have you thought about side covers yet?

Side covers are coming later I am gonna make them from plexi glass going to etch one side and cover with a a piece of sheet metal painted black. Dril small holes in the plexi for LED lights so when turned on they reflect through the glass onto the etched surface showing the image.

Looks awesome man! Nice work, cant wait to see the finished product.

Got it finished!!! Well sorta... I was worried it wouldn't start when I cranked on it first time. But after the carbs filled it fired right up idled at 1500 sounded good digital guages all worked great. Rode it down drive and back **** it off checked for leaks... None... Great longer ride went ten miles and had the clutch to tight kept slipping loosened that up. Man totally different feel from my other bike.. Ride it home and then the trouble started. Just died..... Pushed it into shop and figured I had a bad charge system and needed to charge the battery and was gonna check it. Charged battery wouldn't start. Shook bike didn't sound like I had any gas in it which makes sense I didn't put much in it. So put gas in it crank and crank and crank ( on/off switch housing started smoking) oh boy shorted out which killed my relay for the coil power and starter button. Gotta work out this link but man what a ride!

Fuse was blown replaced that and fired it up charging system reads healthy on meter. So it's set to go get some finished pics this evening

can't wait to see it! glad she ran for ya! My GS is really the only bike I've ridden aside from a few people letting me ride there bike up the rode and back, but these things have got to be one of the funnest machines to sit on.

Glad to see your project is finished. I really like the outcome! I finished my motor rebuild over the weekend as well, so I know how excited you must be right now. Thanks for sticking with the thread and taking so many pictures of your progress.

Replaced my bars for some new black clubman bars

I like the wider clubman bars

looks good man, cracks me up that they actually look neat upside down.

I got the seat covered and side covers made here recently I will post some picks. I had problems with my fuel mixture through my carbs and was afraid i blew my rings out of the cylinder so i rebuild the top end of the bike as well. got fuel issues worked out and runs great now i really like the GS and so glad I bought it not thinking how much fun it is to ride.

finished out with seat cover and side covers
