Thanks Billy~
The fender is delayed and won't be here till Monday according to FedEx..
I rode to Plano yesterday and picked up of all things a chain guide buffer off a 98 ZX9R for my swing arm & it fits, now my chain won't ruin the swing arm.
;-)
Only thing left to finish the project is a chain guard.
I am watching also for an exhaust can to replace mine with when I get the funds.
Doing as much as I can before the surgery next Thursday..
This bike is almost ready for a **Hill Country Ride**

So far I have put in 3 tanks of gas with happy results from the numbers.
I can do about 145 miles, before hitting reserve.

1st tank of gas 09/26/10
$2.439 * 2.936 = $7.16

2nd tank 09/29/10
$2.499 * 3.963 = $9.90
trip 161.2 miles = 40.676 mpg's this tank mostly hi-way riding

3rd tank 09/30/10
$2.599 * 4.058 = $10.55
trip 154.2 miles = 37.999 mpg's mixed riding 50/50 hi-way/city

5 tanks of gas now and smiles I cannot wipe off my face.
I have surgery #2 in the morning and got out today and got some more smileage :D

I have someone working on a 2009 GSXR1k can for me we'll see how that develops.

Too much time on my hands..
Thought about the small square headlight and it's bugging me so I made a change.

Beuller beuller????

OR just leave the rear alone????????

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

First off very cool build. It looks like a monster. The gsxr front lights and face is sweet looking I think. My thoughts on the rear..... Not so much.

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

My issue is it destroys the line of the tank into the seat that is really nice on the GS. Also the lack of side covers looks off to me. The other thing that looks wrong and uncomfortable to me is that rounded hump on the back of the tank. It just looks like it would be painful to lean into. Especially considering it's proximity to some jewels... :o

Thats just my 2 cents. If you really wanna do it I think it would look sweet if you grafted it better the front. Maybe get another set of side covers to chop up and blend with the rear a bit. And bring the front of the seat more along the lines of the GS.

It looks good but, it looks like it needs a differant tank now. I couldn't go that far with mine due to the fact that it was the seat/bodywork combo on these, that made me want one the second i saw the picture on the cover of cycle world in late '82.

LOL

I looked at the bike today when I got home from the doctor & thought man what was I thinking last night LOL.

The side panels would have been reworked and a different seat would have had to be made no doubt.

**BUT**

I am going to leave it where it is and throw the spares back on the shelf.
I can't go any further on the build, I think it is has plateaued with the body work.

I am going to keep the back half stock will keep the original lines and styling I was loving when I bought her.

I have however recently brought all my spare turbo stuff, including mandrel bent pipe sections, & header pcs home this wk...

 :-\\\ :p :D

Good.I was going what is he thinking to.Really like the early GSXR fairing.

LOL ya I hear ya would require much more work then I actual have time fro anymore.

Here is where I am back at tonight, almost done working on it before tearing it back down for paint.
I am re-doing the exhaust also using an old V&H canister that was chopped down.

So now the ONLY thing OEM about my 1983 GS750ES is:
Fairings, seat, tank, mid frame & sub frame, lower was modified to accept the 1993 GSXR1100W banana arm and shock assembly (required new fab'd brackets and bracing).
Welded tab on neck and drill and tapped frame spars both sides to accept headlight bracket dual headlights and front fairing assembly off 1986 GSXR1100.
Mirrors are off 95 GSXR1100, wheels are 95-98 GSXR1100W, front end complete is off 93-98 GSXR1100W.
Wiring harness, gauges and all electrics and controls are off 95-98 GSXR1100W.

I think leaving the back original body work is a smart choice. Like you said it would be so much work to put the gsxr stuff on AND make it look right...

BTW This thing is gonna be a rocket ship with a turbo.... :D Cant wait to see that.

Done for now, will ride it this year not doing anything else except that this year :D
Took it out for a test run / shake down ride.
She did well until my left side panel tried to come off...
But we made it back home, have to figure out something to keep it on since the tab ran away.. ;)
The bike sets at 60" WB now.
Two things I just remembered I have to do lol
Install the Steering Damper, install the horns again.

I like it ..Hows it handle with the suspension change over stock ..?

How did you mount the fairing? Looks pretty good.... Can we have some more pics? :)

Well I need to adjust/tune the suspension for this bike, it's too stiff at this moment, but I am happy with it as a whole the braking is phenomenal.

I used a "COMPLETE" 1987 GSXR setup the lights and bracket were off one of my old GSXR750's the fairing skin & screen was from my 87 GSXR1100.
I welded a tab on the neck of my GS frame to accept the top mount of the headlight bracket.
Made two 3" extension pcs for the bottom bracket, tapped the frame spars and bolted it on the sides.

At the top I made some flat bar-stock out of 1.5"angle and bent it into the shape of the fairing upper and welded tabs to mount the upper to the headlight bracket.
I don't measure too much I usually bend and weld to fit using my eye as the guide.
The mirrors I installed are off a mid nineties (1996) GSXR.
I chose them over the old skool GSXR mirrors, because I like seeing past my elbows.

I have the Hi/Low HID setup waiting to be installed as well I forgot about those too lol.

So Steering damper, horns, hid's {{{argh}}} lol

Anything else just ask-
Peace,
Ron

Thanks!
I am happy with the results, and some tweaking here and there she should be awesome. ;):D

The new muffler location WORKS!!! The can you had before just did NOT look right on that bike so high up & far back! I like it much better now! The GSXR fairing, not so much. Maybe just because it seems to me to be too high up. Nice bike! Just MY opinions, don't be insulted. Ray.

It's all good Ray, was waiting on a member of Sh.org for a later model Gixxer 1k can but he flaked out on me..
So I made that setup there from a blown out V&H off my Katana 1100.
Chopped off the blown end and rebuilt the center, then chopped the exhaust flange and tube down to fit.
The GSXR fairing is a so so affair, until I find something better (which I have an idea using a Katana Electric Windscreen assembly I have on the shelf.)

Thanks for the opinions and feedback I need it.

Great write up and definitely a lot of work. My only criticism is that the way the bottom of the fairing doesn't match the rest of the lines of the bike is visually annoying. I like the dual headlights and upper section of the fairing.

SEE! That's what I am talking about, Thanks-
I was trying to figure ou the area that kept making the fairing BLAH..
You hit on it THANK YOU!

I have some old mismatched side fairings off some old skool zukes, let me see if I can do anything about it, I see it now ty again.
