Not much happening today, started to clear the side covers, worked on the vectra and looked at a new car for the girlfriend.... all dull and boring, cant put the bike back together yet as i cant get a hold of the bloke with the engine cover.

Started to paint my Race helmet too.

Race helmet? Do tell...

And don't worry, I know dull and boring, I haven't done a single thing this week except get the caliper piston dust boot on wrong, and I haven't even thought about finding time to sort that out... no call from Tranzac either so I guess I'm not getting it back any time soon either...

i used to race a clubman go kart and had a 'race use only' helmet, dont have the kart anymore but i plan on getting back into it

Aaah ok... I thought it had something to do with when you put the race number on the GSX... couldn't quite figure that one out

i would love to push the 250 to its limits because on a twisty track etc i think it would be an awesome bike.

Started to play on a side cover today with some sanding and polishing, Its a 10 metre bike but up close its crap. Here are some pics.

I've only polished half of it in these pics, excuse the rain drops. I can see my reflection clearly in the finish, but it has horrible orange peel. Do i have to wet sand that completely out?

No idea on the orange peel (but would love to know the answer for when I get painting) but it certainly looks nice except for that...

Well i've established that i'm not a painter, i have no patience for it and all the work involved with it, then again maybe my problem is that i'm spraying with automotive rattle cans.

I'm tempted to hand them over to a painter and tell him i'll pick them up in a week...

Been a **** weekend here, drizzling rain on and off, cant take the bike out because i'm still waiting to hear about the cylinder head cover.... Cant paint in this weather... Dont want to work on the vectra today... tempted to get my fishing tackle out, yes FISHING tackle.... not MY tackle lol and walk to the end of the street and drop a line in....... just abit over it.

You can usually find a painter or an apprentice that will paint some stuff in their spare time for cheaper.
It isnt really worth painting a tank and a couple of side covers for a shop, so most owners dont mind if the younger guys stay behind or do some stuff in their lunch break.
Might be worth a try?
It cant hurt to hit the cover with some wet and dry, especially if you are considering repainting anyway.
But for now, grab the rod(fishing) and wet a line.

got my fishing licence then i couldnt print the receipt. Cant wait for this weekend to be over as it seems nothing is going my way this weekend.

Mate that sucks, but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes...

I usually find Sunday night a productive bike night, but this week finds me sitting in front of the laptop on the forums... didn't even get to think about catching up with John to borrow his Mityvac to spit the caliper piston out and no opportunity to run the compressor up to do it. Tranzac didn't call Friday or yesterday so obviously the pipe's not ready meaning Tuesday is work as normal so won't be firing the compressor up then either...

I didn't realise you needed a fishing license these days... guess it just wasn't meant to be...

The compressor is quite noisy when your close, but firing it up for 30 seconds should give you enough pressure to pop it out with the garage door shut you should be fine.

Going to try and get in contact with the fella with the cylinder head cover tomorrow, if not then i'll keep looking or maybe try and get mine repaired, worse case the local bike wrecker has one from a 1981 model but it has 1 less bolt hole than mine does.

Try and tell my wife that :p I'm thinking I'm going to see if I can't get it done tomorrow morning if my wife catches the early train to work...

1 less bolt hole? That don't sound good... if it's like the 12 to 15 bolt change on the 450's it won't just be an extra bolt, the others will be in different positions too... just in case...

Not Happy Jan, what is it with places not returning calls in regards to parts?.... Still waiting...........

Man that sucks! I hate it when people don't return calls when they should. Usually if that happens I do my best not to deal with them any more, sometimes you can't do that though...

And I did get the compressor on for a couple of minutes this morning, and yes I will be posting an update very shortly :D

finally got a response, my emails were going through to his spam folder. Problem is if i pay for it today i still wont see it till next week :(

Well that's good... and painful all at the same time

Where's it coming from?

Also, you'll want to read my update shortly... haha

So go get it! Sheeesh... even I'm not that lazy :p Hmmm actually I possibly am...

dont have a car to go get it atm, gf's car is sold and i'm still fixing a certain POS vectra....

Cylinder head cover has been ordered. Should see it next week i reckon, doubt it will be tomorrow.

The weather here has been absolutely crap so havent really been able to work on the bike at all, cant put it in the garage because my project car is in there and it gets right of way lol.
