A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Band/Gixer Conversion (week 2)

  • Thread starter Thread starter jwhelan65
  • Start date Start date
My 95 GSXR 1100 lower triple has 1 upraised stop facing the front. I will have to weld two tabs on rear plus maybe two threaded blocks with thread in rubber stops on the head tube.

BTW... you have a PM.

Could someone who has a GSXR 1000 2005-6 rearend, please do me a favor and measure in millimeters the distance from eye to eye on their rear suspension linkage. I forgot I had picked up Vortex lowering links when I Ebayed and it's kind of tough figuring out the weld in shock mount position.

Thanks in advance.

Chainguard dilema

Chainguard dilema

May have solved the chainguard issue on Bandit conversions. The stock Bandit chainguard is aluminum and takes some precision cutting to modify in order to make it look good. ( Isleo's is incredible BTW) This is off my FZ1 that I replaced with a carbon fiber. Good thing about it is that it is plastic and can be cut to fit. Im thinkin a utility knife, some 600 grit and plasti-coat. Any thoughts?

I thought something similar to these might look good.

Nice exhaust, does that guy have any more? Have had a tough time finding anything for GSXR 1100's on Fleabay lately.

Good luck with the chain guard.

Nice score on the V&H. Getting rare now days if not un-obtainium in that condition.

Is your FZ1 guard already bolted to the shock mount bolt in that photo or do you still need to make a tab? I like the look.

Isleo,

The FZ1 chainguard is just sitting in place. It would easily mount to the back side of the shock but I'll have to cut away some of it to make it work. Should mount up in the front as well with some modification.

Not sure if you know it, but the GSXR1100 and GS1100 do not use the same diameter exhaust ports. I'd hate to see you buy one for a GS and not have it fit without mods.

pipes

pipes

Here is a pic of a 1st Gen (86-88) GSXR 1100 Muzzy header mocked up to my 83 GS1100ED. All pipes will not fit this way, they need to have bilateral symmetry (drop tubes need to look the same and 1-2 are mirror image of 3-4). The port spacing is the same, The OD on the pipe is difference but with the right gaskest might work. But the bolt hole spacing on GSXr is narrower for the clamps and so new collars normally need to be welded on.
Mussy still make SS pipes for 1st gen, about $550

I got the seat back from Sargents after the re-do and it fits much better. The problem was it was way to tight and actually bowed the plastic seat frame, leaving a 3/4" space at the front of the seat against the tank. The gap at the rear is do to the rear tabs that are broken off. Sargents was very good about getting it right. Searching for a rear cowl before it gets painted.

Looking good Joe, :dancing:

I have to work at the fit of my Corbin on the ED as well. I have to make sure the plastic sides are in so the seat fits over. ;)

What tires you running? Pirelli's?

Hey Jim,

Pirelli Diablo's 180's Cycle Gear has a killer deal on them right now, check em out if you need tires..

Wow,
That is a good deal. I already have a set of 17" Corsa III's ready to be mounted. What do you think about how they would compare? There would go on my GSXR Street fighter.

Not really sure, havn't had a chance to run the Diablos yet. Cant wait to try them out though..

Just picked up another set of Bridgestone BT-021s for the suzuki and a spare set for the FZ1.

SWMOTO http://www.swmototires.com/

301213 Bridgestone BT021 170/60ZR-17 1 $126.95 $126.95
301201 Bridgestone BT021 120/70ZR-17 2 $109.95 $219.90
301214 Bridgestone BT021 180/55ZR-17 1 $133.95 $133.95
Shipping: SWMT Shipping: $0.00
Sales Tax: $0.00

The Diablos are a great price but I have to weigh in the cost of tire changes. I would think I would be changing the diablos more often. I get about 6 to 7K out of the stones.

No shipping or tax charges at SW

jwhelan65,

I have the same front suspension that you have but my wheel looks different. The spokes that I have on my wheels are what you would say "spinning or directional" but I see that yours are straight. What year wheels are you using? :-k

Peace!,
