While checking the valve shim clearance on my 1983 GS450L the timing chain slipped as few teeth, so now I have to reset it.
I have the clymer manual, which lists 18 pins in between marks 2 and 3 as the correct timing. Unfortunately the images are a little vague. Since the 2 and 3 marking arrows are at the valley of a tooth are you supposed to include the pins in those valleys as part of the 18? Or do you exclude those pins that fall right at the markings?
Put another way, is it 18 pins, including the pins ate the markings or 18 pins between the markings, which would be 20 pins including the ones at the marks
Thanks,
Steve
