    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've never heard of that model. One question, what is with the oil lines running along the right side of the engine? At first I thought they would go to a front-mounted oil cooler, but that does not look a cooler to me.

It is based on the XR600 dirt bike engine.
It has a dry sump and the oil is carried in the frame.

The GB 500 didn't sell because it was bog slow and cost as much as a CB 600 Hurricane

People who wanted a big single bought the SRX 6, which had a lot more of everything.

The GB is pretty, but I don't know why it would be that collectible

As a rule, cafe bikes should be able to do the ton. I doubt that bike got over 85, I had the same motor in my FT500 and it topped at 87. And it took an hour to get up to that speed.
 
My '87 XR600R has a speedo and I have seen it over 95 on gravel roads while thinking that I probably shouldn't be taking sweepers at that speed on knobby tires like a dirt tracker.
The frame is currently cracked and leaking oil as some fool likes to take jumps that are a bit too high and far on it. :( :o
I will have to weld it and add some braces to the lower tubes.

Probably because it was only in the US for 89 and 90. It has the look of old British singles, but with Honda reliability. I wouldn't pay $6200, never mind $10,000. I like them, but that's too much money.

The GB is a cool little bike, paying tribute to the classic look. Maybe Honda was a little too ahead of its time. I remember them sitting in the dealerships, until they practically gave them away, like $1900 new. I was tempted, but then there were also new Yamaha Radians in the same situation.
Trouble was, I still loved my GS1000 more.
