    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This looks AMAZING! I planned on relocating the electrics under the seat with my cafe build as well but had no idea where to start. Now I have an exceptional idea of what to do!

Can't wait to see a video of her running! :cool:
 
Quick update.

Wiring now sorted :) Carbs fitted. Throttle cables, grips, headlamp etc. Not too far from starting her.... watch this space.

Hi, thanks for the interest...

I bought the fold up kick stands for neater storage and with the assumption I'd still be able to use the kick start... unfortunately the kick just clips them and is unusable :( I've left it on for now as it looks quite cool, although may remove it for extra weight saving!

I have the mounts fitted for a Micron brace, I'm just putting some final touches to the brace and will also probably fit a shorten mud guard of some kind?

No chain guard, and a nice Vance and Hines megaphone end can is to be fitted :)

Thanks for the advice mate, you never know I may add one as a finishing touch... never really thought of the points you mentioned!

More concerned with the chain gaurd then any of the other items, reason I asked, is the rearsets you have put your pant leg in chomping vacinity, and for any reason the chain breaks, it will protect you leg and freshly built motor.

Yes I have my bike fitted with 35mm clipon bars aswell, I CAREFULLY drilled and tapped the steering stop on the frame neck where the lower tripple clamp comes in contact, I then used a small stainless hex bolt to limit the maximum steering lock.

Just incredible. really nice work, and a well executed build, be proud of that for sure.
Just one more ppoint on the chain guard....if it don't make it go faster, ya don't need it.

I am coming over these in about 3 weeks if all goes to plan... I'll be down in the South East. Can bring brackets over with me if necessary. Not sure they'll give the right look on your bike though. Stripped & polished with the brackets chromed it might work...

Cheers dude, I have looked at this option and we're currently weighing it up against some form of clever bracket coming down from the top yoke. Gonna be fairly limited steering lock whatever way we do it! :rolleyes:
 
A few updates from today. I've always liked the look of Velocity Stacks as opposed to pod filters, I've read a few articles suggesting they may not run as well... but you know what, they look damn sexy!! We covered off the oil breater with a neat K&N jobbie tucked nicely towards the top NSF of the engine. Exhaust end can fitted too :D

In other news I sourced a handlebar switchgear refurb kit from eBay and fitted to the freshly painted switches, they look brandnew. The throttle linkage is run, timing set and all the electrics are working as they should. So, there was only one thing left to do.... connect up the fuel lines and FIRE HER UP!!!!

I'm amazed to report that she started on the button and idled unbelievably well considering we were using fairly basis carb settings lifted from forums such as this one. We started with the air screw 2 turns out and reduced to 1.5. She's running 120 jets, although not sure that make a differnence on tick over? She ran lovely for 5 mins until she ran out of petrol :rolleyes:

Next jobs:

  • Steering lock
  • Clocks
  • Lower headlamp by an inch or so
  • Fit new stainless fork caps
  • Investigate 'spongey' front end - new progressive front springs?
  • Paint brake levels, run lines
  • Start saving for calipers, disks.... nitrous, Ohlins rears?! :o

Are you going to change that rear brake pedal? Doesn't look like you can use it in that position, unless your ankle is double-jointed. Also, the linkage won't deliver much pressure to the brake without more of an angle.

I guess that will sort out when you put the rear brake on.
