All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hmmmm, a few things to consider there. Thanks everyone.
I'm not all that keen on changing anything from original on my bike unless I have to, especially adding any extra mechanical bits which will give me another thing that has to be adjusted or will eventually wear out! haha!
I've learnt the hard way in life that anything that is mechanical and can move will wear out sooner than you would like (including myself!) and give you problems!
Will try today to get help from the other half to get the bike out of the small garden shed it's in (it's sitting on gravel and hard to move without help) now that the rain here has stopped.
Will check anything and everything I can think of for other faults before considering my options if it does turn out to be the ignitor as I suspect.
Gotta get this bike going soon as we seem to be having a short mild winter here and I'm keen to go explore the area around the country town I've moved to from the city 9 mths ago here in Australia.

Well Pics would be nice; We usually dont get to Aussie very much :)

Will certainly send pics (as soon as I figure out how to do that). I tried the other day sending pic of inside of igniter to compare with older one but it asks for a URL for attachments?

Figured it out! I had clicked on "insert image" at the top, not realising I should have scrolled down to find "attach files" down below.
For starters here's the pic for comparison of the inside of the 32900-49420 ignitor from my '84 GS1100GKE.

I was actually thinking about pics of Aussie :o

Anyway 8/10 imes if you change the capacitors on that board (they are under the gunk) reflow the folder on the traces on the bottom the board will work. What ya gotta loose?:-\\\

There are also instructions around here for posting pics. Like on Photobucket or some other file hosting service

Will give replacement caps and resoldering a try. Thanks for the advice.
Here's why I want to get the bike going again.
Pic attached is of view of Smith's Lake, taken from my balcony at Tarbuck Bay.
Lots of nice country roads here to explore!

Yep it's pretty big alright.
It's known as the world's largest island or the smallest continent, depending on your point of view.
Australia is actually roughly the size of Europe or the USA.
This pic is taken last summer of Shelly Beach, about a 10 minute ride from our house.

Here's one more with a tourist info URL on the sign for those lucky people without ignition problems planning a ride over here :) .........

Thanks beautiful pic of the ocean; water is very clear. What direction is the prevailing wind?

Shelly Beach is an unusual (perhaps the only?) beach on Australia's east coast which actually faces northwest due to being on a small peninsula (see map) and due to this gets mainly the warmer northerly winds.
It is well protected by the tall headland behind it from the cooler south westerlies so it's a pleasant spot to ride to even now in the winter.
