A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a vapor on my bike and it's been fantastic. On my '79, it mounts really nicely to the headlight housing on spacers once the original cluster is removed. Pics to come.

Here is one form a "1967 Honda cb77 Superhawk" No fuel guage but small, simple and looks neat.

Or this one

Still missing that fuel guage though.

Paul

Who makes the gauge pictured in this post.... I can't find it anywhere

Jake - you will need to look for Honda OEM parts it is off a 1967 CB77 Superhawk. I have not looked for it personally yet.

Gearhead- Give us pics my friend we are eagerly waiting.

The nice thing about those speedos that use a magnetic pickup on the front disc is that you can get it to read very accurate if you get the front wheel diameter right. Unlike the stock Suzuki speedos that can be out be quite a bit.

Just for grins once, I tried a Cateye speedo (made for a bicycle) on my Honda 550. It, too, had a magnetic pickup on the front wheel, and was pretty accurate, until it got up to about 70mph..then it's little brain would freak out..:D..then it would recover when it slowed down. It only lasted about a month before it was toast, but was a fun (inexpensive) experiment while it lasted.

A good bike computer (not the $19 ones you get at Target) will work fine on a motorcycle, but they usually don't have a backlight. That's why I found the Vapor to be such a good deal. It has a good backlight, along with computer functions and a tach, and it is weather- and shock-resistant.

I also like the Mike's XS analog gauges, which fit the stock GS speedo and tach cables and have lights.

Sorry for the hijack but Larry you should bring that 550 of yours to the IOV this coming year. I'd love to see it up close. Beautiful bike....

BINGO BINGO BINGO. That is the one I want. Acewell ACE-3962. I found it on the acewell site for $125, but only found it on one other site and they did not list a price so I will have to call them. But that is what I want on my bike. Now I just have to budget for it. Sweet.

That is a nice looking gauge as well, might not be bad for my build, latter down the road.....rip the guts out of the old gauge and pop this in there....hmmmmmm

Thanks for the compliment, Don. Looks like we're practically neighbors. What's the IOV? I would definitely bring it.

IOV is the 'Isle of Vashon' meet put on by the 'Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts' every late summer.
I saw your GS1000 there last year....another beauty by the way! (at least I thought it was your bike)

Oh..duh, Larry. Ha ha! Yes, I've been there the last 7 years. The first time was with the 550 and it took Best Japanese in the concours. I've had the S model there twice, and it got snubbed both times by the VME.. Really cool event, though, for sure.

Thanks for this thread.Mulling over what to do with the CB.Giving me some ideas:clap:

I think you would be hard pressed to find a better looking bike to emulate.
If you can make your CB look as nice as that CB, I'll buy the celebration beers!

And just so this is not a total thread hijack, I think that Acewell guage is a nice choice. Good looking and not too expensive.
