A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Finally got around to snapping a pic of the bike with the fender painted red. A few of you ragged on me for it being blue so here it is repainted.

Billy,

Looks better red. :)

than blue of course.

Side question...

Is that the decal set from "Reproduction Decals" for the "700E" in red, on your machine?

I'm going to change mine to the red, from blue, a Cali-blue to be exact, but have been thinking the ES pattern doesn't have the GS700E mark on the sides on their webpage. I have not called them yet, which if I were going for complete OE graphics is off, but.....

Just curious.

No size designation might add a few more horepower right?. lol

It's just some stick-on letters and numbers from an office supply store. It's not the stock paint job. I repainted back in about '94 and just tried to get close to stock graphics on it. The SUZUKI decal on the tank should be solid red. Reproduction Decals did a set of graphics for me using Joe's set to work from but in red. I had them place the GS700E decals on the side panel graphics for me. Haven't used them yet though. They are so close to the stock graphics nobody would ever know the difference. Contact them and see if they kept the E graphics on file. They don't show the E set on the website but hopefully they kept the file. If you mention my name they might remember. I worked with a lady by the name of Linda IIRC.

Dang Billy that thing looks fantastic, how does it perform with the flatslides, I was amazed at how much the 700 revs for an old bike, I was pleasantly suprised with mine can only imagine it with better carbs.

It looks good from 10 feet away but up close it has its share of scabs. The way yours turned out has me wanting to do a frame up restoration.

They are some rev happy engines with the shortened stroke. The flatslides really woke it up. It accelerates way harder than stock. You have to roll the throttle to keep from bogging it at lower rpm's but once it gets up the rev range just keep the throttle hammered. One thing about rolling the throttle it does let you take advantage of the accelerator pumps. They probably deliver more bang for the buck than anything you can do to a bike, especially for a bolt on item.

Very stable and great in the twisties.
Now I need a modified seat to get a bit more distance betwenn pegs an seat (poss the foam in mine is just shot).
Also need to sort out a speedo. Thinking acewell maybe....

Modular, the pipes look like the bike is running a little lean. Billy & Dan, both look VERY good!!! Ray.

I just wanted to throw in my two cent's worth, I didn't use the LED type lights but I did find some very subtle signals that are halogen, there are two brands and I ended up with a set of both. One is the EMGO "rabbit ears" and the other is the Drag Specialties "eagle eye", they are nice and small but also nice and bright, if you are set on the LED type they do have them in the LED that are the same size and style.
Here are some pictures to give you an idea if you like.

The last picture shows the signals with the brackets I made to mount them below the fairing. I have more pictures in my album with a little more info.
Of course you know you will need a different flasher relay, there are plenty out there but what I bought was the K&S part# 21-1389 from Dennis Kirk it was only $8.99.
One of the things I like most about them is the signals no longer stand out like giant orange beacons.

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Salty Monk, where did you get that headlight bikini fairing? Im looking to put something similar on my bike.

Although not very custom, I have added a few touches to make this my own.
