A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

And over to Saltspring Island today. Was really cool as I have lived in this area my whole life and never been to any of the Gulf Islands. Was nice to share it with my buddy Sheldon who just moved here from Halifax NS.

Going to this tomorrow so:

Gave Yeller a good clean and a bit of polish.
2012_07190005.jpg

Used my new polisher on the screen, worked great.Loose wheel with white bar really works on plastic.

Still some crazing but I think it's deep in the plastic.

She scrubs up real nice Greg :D

My 450 needs a bath and a half... covered in filth from the recent feral weather... maybe today.

You'd best be posting many pic's from that even too :D

These opposed piston calipers should be a great upgrade for Yeller.Yeah I'm going to clean them up and repaint them.Off a 83 550.

Didn't think I'd just use them like that^^^did you?Brown stuff behind the pistons tells me it was a good idea.

Looking good all painted and curing in the sun.
2012_08160007.jpg

Was worried they might not fit,not now.

Guess I was wrong. They don't fit.Could probably mod them to fit but I'm not going to.Give them back to my friend looking better than they did.

So it seems I might not have a project for this winter.I have made some mistakes with this bike I would like to fix.Biggest one is not adding enough catalyst to the clear when I painted the bodywork. It is VERY soft:o.Much better polisher, with better equipment as well.So unless something else comes up reworking Old Yeller might be this winter's project. Now the question is will she be Yeller at the end?

Been having charging problems with Yeller. In a couple of trips up Island the battery was going dead as I was going up.Got real good at bump starting her, right Trevor;)

So I bought 2 of these voltmeters for $4 and change from China.Showed me that the bike was charging when I left but stopped 1/2 way though my 20 min commute. As I have a good PH009 MOSSFET R/R that was not the likely problem.

The other side and the one I put in.Good solid 13+ volts now:dancing:

IF you need a project you can pop by L.A. and grab my boxes and boxes of parts I'll be getting. I'll come up to ride the complete bike back to Los Angeles come spring, cool?

:D

Yes Greg you did!:)
Thing of the past now.On the trip to Renfrew this last weekend I could turn her off with confidence she would come back to life with a touch of the button:dancing:
Last day for insurance Friday. As fiances have dictated no new projects this year I'm moving the redo of Yeller up a year.Yes another complete teadoen.Kelly will be SO happy when it's time to remount the swing arm and the engine.Great 2 projects and nothing to ride:(

:D
Yeah right. My 1000 still needs to be done and so does this one^^^:D

Yeah I guess so,but odds where against you as well as my lack of storage room.
So we are off the road today as the insurance has run out.The tires are looking worn and so is the paint.Want to repolish the stuff that I did back when I was learning the process.Still an open question whether she will be Old Yeller when she's done.

Picking the color is hard stuff. It'll be quite awhile before I even get to that stage on my GS700E and it's already bothering me. I think I'll shove the decision off to my four yera old son... Well, I'l have veto rights anyway :D

Should have possession of the pile of parts in about four hours!
