    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Iwas wrong, it's the Bob A MA thingy (must have correct capitalizations too) attached to the synthetic chain immerssed in fallopian tube organic grease causing the problems...
A small change needed if I may... that would be synthetic organic grease...

You need to tell us the colour of your bike: if it's blue that's your problem - everyone knows red ones are better.

One day I asked a friend of mine from Manchester what his favorite color was. He just stared at me for a moment with a blank look on his face. It was then that I realized my mistake, so I rephrased my question...

"What's your favourite colour?"

"Oh, Green."

Make sure you check your piston return spring it could be broken.

Just goes to show- you guys have ENTIRELY too much time on your hands!! Funnier'n'hell, tho!!

Don't forget to check the entire wire harness... look for loose coffee grounds.

Of course, it could the the ThingaMajiggy that attaches upside up, downside sideways with two wrong headed right handed 15 mm 1/4-20 screwy nuts to the Thingamabob that fell off of the Pet cock when it fell out of the sideways flame thrower attached for the latest bobber mod...........:D:D

Now thats funny...:D:clap:

Well since you bike is in austrailia the F on your air pressure gauge means FULL so what ever you do dont fill it more cause remember what I told you about the blowing and up stuff.

oh and its not that we have a lot of time on my hands its that our goal is to make everyone in our lives hate us cause we spend no time with them.

to solve this problem...

to solve this problem...

you gotta do a couple of easy steps, you noobs fail to see the importance of this time after time.
I'm only gonna tell ya'll once more;

1. Rebuild the carbs (do it 3 times, this is not really nessisary, it's more like a way for us to see if yer really serious, can take orders and have the stick-to-it-ness to be a real GS'er type... consider it hazing if that helps)
2. replace all O rings, A rings and oh heck... replace anything rubber, nital, vinyl, and latex and anything vaguely squisy
3. got points? they're soooo '79 - replace with modern-type electronic ign parts)
4. test all charging system... you'll need a multi-meter and test light and some big rubber soled shoes. honestly noob... you prob should do this first cuz if you don't survive this the rest was a waste of time
5. Replace the R and R with a R/R unit.
6. adjust the carb air/fuel mix ... carefully screw in a really small screw until it lightly touchs bottom... then backout anywhere from 1 1/4 to 2 1/2 turns... opinions vary (or which one of us you wanna **** off?)
7. check gas tank for rust and sediment... clean tank by filling full of pennies and throwing in a clothes dryer for a couple of hours
8. petcock.... only 1 out 10 say rebuild... be a rebel ... rebuild
9. adjust valves... WHAT!!? you haven't adjusted the valves yet...can't stress this enuff... must do... you'll need a special tool for this... it kinda looks like a cross section of a tablespoon. Buy at least two cuz you'll wind up throwing one into the nearest river out of shear frustration. (I keep picturing a long line of Japanese mechanics in little jump suits and baseball caps jumping off a bridge. They're committing hari kari after failing to get those valves done in the required time and dishonoring thier ansestors.)
10. Lastly... Theres a common misconception that "there is no stupid question". This is false. Please think about your question before asking... if you think we might it's stupid then don't ask.

now... what was yer question?

Why can't you people see the clear problem here,

It's the Fetzer valves that need adjusting, just remember the 3&1 oil, steel ball bearings and the gauze. And clean the muck off of the side windows, it will help a whole lot.

If you have any questions ask for Fletch.

You just have to make sure that when you ARE changine these things, you have the correct tools.

I don't know how many times I've wished for a metric crescent wrench, the SAE one always rounds off the heads...
