A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Resto : the "Belgian GS1000S"

chrome on the fork legs damaged.
Will have the legs checked and straightened if needed,
and take them to the hardchromer next.

I will polish the lower fork legs to shine.

Now, i know i said the Lockhart oilcooler would not be necessary but this bike may reach temps a bit higher than a standard bike :D

I had the opportunity to buy some parts off Frank Biggelaar, you may have heared of him.
He raced in the past with a standard GS1000 engine and did not like the fact he was passed by XR69 replicas.
He collected a load of stuff to bring a GS1000 engine close to XR69 specs.
Unfortunately life got in the way of him building this race engine,
and racing it ... he handed in his racing license.

The only thing i did not buy was a professionally rebuilt cylinder head with 8 spark plug holes.
This head is bought and used by guys that will race a XR69 replica, and are currently building their own chassis.
Take a peek here if you're interested. ( even if just checking out the pictures you'll be busy for some time - they're up to
59 pages in this thread already )

back to the parts :D

- hot cams and Falicon adjustable sprockets
- original 997 cc sleeves
- JE forged pistons
- sprocket to make the oil pump work a bit harder
- Ape strengthened cylinder studs
- Kibblewhite shim-under-buckets
- Cometic head gasket

Oh for a JIS bit.
They must really walk the loctite to these fasteners.

this engine has had a hard life ... there's metal in the oil and all bearings, i found part of a piston ring in the oil pan.
Most JIS screws are damaged from using a Philips screw driver, it's just these 4 that were so badly damaged i cannot get them out yet.
Crap ! At least the engine number is in the correct S range :-/

Take a small sharp chisel and knock the screw round at the edges, that will come easy.

Heat those screws too, they most likely have loctite on them.
