I have already sought some advice on coils and the responses were greatly appreciated.
What I now find is that the coils on the wreck of a GS850 bike that we are turning into a cafe racer has incorrect secondary resistance for electronic ignition.
Please don't tell me it should have been restored as it was just too far gone.
I can only assume that with 15 K Ohm secondary resistance that the existing coils came from a bike with contact points.
My manual states that the coils should have "About 32 K Ohm secondary resistance" when fitted a bike with electronic ignition.
As the primary resistance is shown as 4 OHM for both types of ignition I checked that and it is correct.
Can I use the 15 K Ohm coils or must they be 32 K Ohm?
