A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Shiny Skunk for Chuck

Package them like they need to survive a nuclear blast in ........................

He packaged my stuff extremely well.

Nice work, Larry...as usual! I am very happy with the job he did for me. Chuck, the pics don't do it justice...wait until you see your stuff in person!

Is it a secret how much a paint job like this would cost? Assuming the typical lumpy, but not overly so, body parts starting point. Don't mean to be an a$$, and it's none of my business since I do my own work, but just wondering for information and possible future referrals sake.:)

I'm sure it depends on what is done. Send Larry a PM and I'm sure he'll give you some prices.

As Bruce mentioned, I'd love to talk to anyone about prices, but I do my best to stay away from that on an open forum for no other reason then I don't want to take advantage of someone else's site for that purpose. I'm probably walking a fine line advertising that I even do it. Believe me, though, I'm just a guy trying to make a living in a tough economy. So much of the prices I charge go directly into materials, which are rippin' expensive. $300-$500 for the simplest color schemes using top of line PPG materials. I can tell you, I'm not getting rich. I do it because it's a pseudo masochistic-artistic-kinda-thing, which I dig, and I do it because I love the bikes. If I can combine the 2 and make a living, I'm a happy guy. So far, people like yourselves are making that easier. Thanks. ;)

We have a Parts and Services forum here on GSR. I suggest you start a thread, include a few photos, and list some general prices so people don't have to ask. Keep it simple.

Not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to offer some suggestions on how you can showcase your work and inform possible buyers at the same time. Your work is superb and deserves visibility.:)

Good luck

ED thing is its hard to quote prices because every job will have varrying degrees of dents, knicks in the plastics and such to not under bid yourself.. Best policy ( if it were me ) would to add that prices will be given on a job by job basis. Please send photos of the parts you want a quote on..i sent lots of pics especially of the tank. I knew it was gonna require a lot of filler and attention. I wont divuldge here what I paid for the entire bike, but suffice it to say i found it very reasonable. And based on his work on Bruces Cooley and now mine, I think that these two projects stand on their own as testiment of what a customer will recieve.

A few people that have seen my bikes have pinged me about painting theirs. Now my work isn't as detailed as Larry's here, partly on purpose, but I can tell you that I won't paint for other people because the amount I would have to charge to make it worth my while would be judged as unreasonable by many. It's great to have a quality painter available for those in need...and the quality shows so people should understand that quality doesn't come cheap.

Just for grins, here's a few more that I've done recently. They all required the side covers, fenders and tail sections to be painted, too..but the tanks are the heart of em.

I agree, even rough ballpark figures would be nice, to work with.;)

I know Larry very well and he and I collaborated on several of his projects since he's taken this painting stuff seriously. I have a very successful Helmet painting gig that I've been doing since 1991

I know you guys don't know me from Adam, but I can attest that his stuff is top shelf no BS. I am a painter as well and I wouldn't paint the stuff he does because what I would charge would insult most everyone. He is not making a killing off this stuff and he is right in that the materials are expensive. That alone should scare most people from even attempting to do their own paintwork. I don't say this often, but I would let Larry paint for me anytime.

Larry, I quoted your post so that folks would get another look.
I have to say that a paint job like these has to be worth at least as much as a set of Ohlins.
You do fine work!

Thanks, Don. I appreciate that very much. And Nunzio, thank you, too, for the props. Chuck's bike has brought a lot inquiries the last few days. I'm grateful to the members, and the gentleman who owns this site for the chance to pimp em a bit. ;)

Larry..got one of those micro fiber towels today..gonna get several more too. This one is new and wqas given to me..beggars cant be choosey!!!

I recognize that black and orange CB750 gas tank. It's on Do The Ton and I think that bike was one of the nominees for bike of the month!
