As you can see from this post and few related ones, my 79 GS 1000e is pristine except for some electrical gremlins. A dealer identified the problem with the short as resulting from a bad DYNA ignition coil that fried. Dyna agreed enough to cover it as a warranty item (only about 100 miles on it), but I had my doubts. Now that the new Dyna coil is in, the dealer says that there is an intermittent problem with the Solenoid- and there is a new one on the way. I mention this to everyone so that they can brainstorm and maybe learn from the problem, not because I am seeking a specific answer from the group. If anyone has had my symptoms (repeatedly/instantly blowing ignition fuse) it might be helpful.
Not sure if the dealer has it right, we'll see. And no, I just cant make the time to wrench it myself.
