A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i know theirs a ton of information on here about RRs but its a little overwhelming to look through all of it. can someone point me in the right direction of a good RR. i heard the ones on bikebandit like ricks electrosport and one other arent that good.

so what about the shindengen RR everyone talks about? seems like there is a ton of different ones. which will work? i have a stock stator.

thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,

See the "approved" list in the electrical section of my little website. Or if you want a new one and money is no object, go for the Compufire unit.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

The Polaris series unit for around $70 brand new seems a good choice, although we don't have any empirical data on it yet.

"empirical data" ? you have to have faith that all those google posts claiming it (the SH-775) is a series R/R are not wishful thinking. Sooner or later, one of us will get ambitious and find out.

Thanks, tom. You have made my morning. :D:D:D
If it is on the Internet, it has to be true, right? ;)
I believe a series regulator can be built for that price, a point I brought up years ago when the Compufire was first introduced to the forum. We just need someone to provide evidence to support the claims.

I will be getting ambitious in that direction in a couple of weeks.

When that unit was introduced here, the validity of the "series" claim was questioned. There were links posted to the Shindengen site where their description of the part said it is a "series regulator". All of the part descriptions on the Polaris parts fiche also say "series", but if you can't believe the manufacturer, who are you going to believe?

Bon jour, k_k. :D

That spec sheet seems to figure no air cooling effect. This one implies that air flow boosts output safely to a adequate level for a typical suzuki stator.

OK that looks good. I found the following comparison here that shows pretty clearly that this SH-775 is a SERIES R/R. Perhaps not the best but still I am sure if you can get one that it is Series.

This is how I believe the Compufire compares. The CF uses FETs on all 6 legs as opposed to using SCR's (The Cycle Electric uses SCR's as described by the designer). The SCR's are bipolar devices that drop more voltage than a MOS FET.

think i should just get one of those you guys posted on ebay? im dying not being able to ride.

I like ZX shinnengen units

I like ZX shinnengen units

I really like to use the late 80S and 90's kawasaki ZX series R&R - only thing to watch is the the amp hour of the system R&R comes from -- any thing with a Perment Magnetic System charging system and over a 14AH battery. -- it gets very-very hot if you use a EX 500 or CB650 or something smaller than the GS - well, they all get hot from gating EMF off to ground but smaller ones melt.

the mount is common and plug in is very solid .. but it is a matter of preference.

No need to think- get a cheap Shindengen now; you can always upgrade later!
i got that one you linked me to:D thanks guys and thanks for finding that Tom really appreciate it. now i just got to wait till it gets here and test to make sure its good and if it isnt im out 12 bucks:cool:

Three Shindengens have been tested by me and passed along- I'd guess they are hard to kill. I tortured one last summer with a bad stator and it didn't care. Make sure you have good connections and then TEST !
