A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What's wrong with this picture?

I just picked up stock Bandit block for $50 and I had a set of Busa pistons that I paid the same for. I am going to press the Bandit sleeves in the GS1150 block and bore them for the Busa pistons 81mm is the 1st bore on the Bandit sleeve and you end up with a 1360cc motor. If you have to split your cases anyway it is a inexpensive way to get a bigger motor. you do have to bore the cases also and deck the bottom and top of the block.

Just something I thought you might be interested in

Thanks for that info, I'm a little bewildered to figure out my options. I have problems shipping things out and waiting, but that sounds like what I have to do. Doubt I'll get the parts shipped and back before winter sets in. Was hoping to do at least another track day. Oh well, wait till next spring. A 1360 might be a bit much for 2.5 mile road circuits, don't you think? Never been on a dragstrip, except at SIR while lapping the 2.25 mile road course.

Ray I saw those, but then noticed the ratio. Couldn't I buy 1 new 10.25 to 1 from MTC? Seems like the material under the dome wouldn't accommodate milling the top off. Would a higher compression ratio piston actually have more material under the dome? Also weighing the same as the other pistons, isn't that a concern.

In my experience with the MTCs like those, they are NOT a hollow dome & can just be milled to the same dome height as your existing. The next concern would be if the valve pockets are the same size as yours & then just to balance them. I would just ask the seller questions before the auction ends & ask for an inside picture of the pistons.
Ray.

Talked John Pearson today. Will ship out the crank this week. Didn't have a moment in the conversation to ask about cylinder boring. Does he do that as well?
He's not an easy guy to get a hold of. Still have to split the cases though before I ship.

Split the cases and found more carnage. My starter clutch bolts have been found. They're tucked away neatly in this little tray.

Gees Carter, that looks bad. Is that on the Kat of your "Wife's Bike"?

Charlie that's on the Kat. Sorry for all the repeat posts.

Blower, missed the pm. Will look now.

Sent the crank off on Saturday. Pearson said, 2 week turn around. Looking for recommendations to send a stock cylinder for boring. Would folks suggest sending a piston to match the bore? Is APE my best bet or could I have it done locally.

Regarding the compression ratio, could a thicker head gasket theoretically reduce compression by .25? Somehow I recall hearing that ratio when I bought the big bore from "Heads Up" formerly in Las Vegas, now in Utah. Maybe it was a 10.5 to 1 to begin with and my recollection is fuzzy. Thanks for any advice.
