Looks good. What kind of crimping pliers do you have? I've got a set that are good for common crush connectors, but would like a real set that curl-in the crimp tabs. Future purchase for sure...Ed

It's a Weatherpack crimping tool. It looks like it will do just about all the open type crimp lugs up to 14AWG stranded. At $32.95 it's affordable and well made. http://performanceplusconnection.us/...-Equipment.htmLast edited by OldVet66; 02-06-2011, 11:50 PM.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Compufire pins
My compufire didn't come with pins either. Found that odd, since the unit itself had pins installed and the other piece didn't.sigpicMrBill Been a GSR member on and off since April 2002

Nessism, I ordered the Motobatt Battery, it arrived this evening. My other battery was doing fine, but it had boiled out and the only water available was well water with lots of clear iron in it. My RX8 was down (changing the rotors), so I had no choice but to fill it with what I had in order to get to work. Luckily it bounced right back and has been working ok. It was a Wallmart battery that replaced the other battery that was ruined from overcharging. I'm loving this Compufire system, the bike has never run so well. It doesn't even dimm the light at all when I plug in my electric gear. It's only a 4.4A load at this time, but it would have been a different story with the stock charging system.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Well I got it installed with solder.
I was amazed at the performance. There is 14.68 colts from 1200 rpm up 5000
I never checked it at a higer RPM.
When the RPMs dropped while on choke I noticed that things go dim and then seem to flare for a nano second.
Is the regulator adjusting that fast to the output form the stator? That freaks me out a bit. There is no such behaviour from a smooth idle and above though.

I'll trade those colts for a filly, but I don't want the .68 one. You couldn't have made a better choice. Quality parts are worth the cost. My son's 850G will get one when we start putting that together as soon as he gets his tax refunds.Last edited by OldVet66; 05-09-2012, 10:37 PM.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Make that 5, mine didn't have any pins either. Kind of ****ed me off some considering the cost of the Compufire, though I cut their connector off and bought some heavy duty weather tight spades (wide ones) and finished it out. Damn thing works great!

I wouldn't be ****ed, I'm glad they are selling them out of the kits. I would be ****ed if I had to buy both the Compu-Fire and a useless Harley stator that had the mating plugs, just to get the 55402. If that was the case I doubt if anyone would have ever tried it and no one would know they exist.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

I just did the ingloved hand over the stator thing.
It was hot to the touch. Hot like a nice, not scalding, cup of coffee.
Damned it jsust get better.

Nice little benefit, the Compu-Fire switches on and off instead of shunting through the stator causing 24/7 additional oil heating when charging isn't needed.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

OV i get a slight flare if the rpms drop too low.
The kind of low you get when the idle speed is set too lown and you turn off the choke and the bike starts to die.
When you give it a small bit of throttle to bring the revs back a very brief ( fraction of a second ) increase in light occurs.
I hope this is just the Compufire adjusting to the rapid increase in stator output.
I Am concerned about it and wondering if others have had a similar experience.
It is raining and cold thus the nagging feelings.
