    Disaster strikes!!!!

Sanding my float bowls on my workbench with my sander clamped in upside down and holding the float bowl while sanding. Works great. What doesn't work great is when you put your Berrymans Carb Cleaner on the same work bench whilst sanding.

BOOM!!!!! World record clearing of the garage and mopping up. Of course I had time to take this pic. LOL

Instead of the BARD award we should give the "DERRRR!!!!" Award each year as well. I win.

Good catch Old School. But the picture is deceiving. The front tire is actually off the ground here and the suspension is fully extended. I wouldn't have thought of that though. When it's on the ground if I don't have a good amount of slack I will be replacing the lines before I ride.

    Thanks!!!!

    Nice FRIGGEN job man.....

I thought I was aNal, but dude you are going to have to go to polishing anonymous...

was that strictly on the buffing wheel, or was there sandpaper involved first...?
It may take me until winter to get mine finished! Thanks GK.

Yes there was sandpaper involved before the polish. I actually took my orbital sander and clamped it into my work table upside down. It's a lot quicker when you can take the part and sand it like that.

Got the body painted today and am going to polish the brass rod and spring up a little. But they are coming along nicely.

While the carb is soaking I am making a little progress in other areas.

Stopped by the store today and picked this up:

Got the watch crystal in the mail and popped it in:

Also got my switch decals from Frank Z in the mail today. He has done a fantastic job with these decals. They went on easy and matched perfectly with the Duplicolor Bumper paint. You really have to look close to see that they are decals.

Looking forward to getting the carbs finished. Steady and she goes!

Up early this morning and after getting the kids to school had just enough time to get No. 1 torn down.

All of the o-rings are flat as pancakes. It looks like the slides have been drilled already and the needle doesn't look stock to me. I'm still going to install the DJ kit to have everything fresh. No problems getting any of the jets out or screws loose. That's a blessing in itself! Also no broken float posts, yet.

It will get a Berryman's bath next.

The only thing you need to do to yours is twist the throttle and hang on!

Those are the best kind of carbs.

Pretty sure I'm going to go with the silver paint I used on the motor with a clear coat and polish the caps and bowls. Will probably polish and clear the plated parts as well. They should look pretty good with all of that and the SS Allen Heads.

    Cue the music....duhn duhn duuuuhn....

It's almost 11:00 here, my wife is out of town at a conference and the kids have been down for a while. I got the work space cleaned up and re-organized. I was tempted to pull a late-nighter and dive into this, but wisdom prevailed. I'd rather hit it with a clear mind and more sleep.

Lots of pictures for reference and good "before" shots.

    So here's what is next:

Disassembly and dip coming next. Have my cycleorings.com o-rings and SS allen screws, berryman's dip, SS allen screw set, float gauge, Japanese standard screwdrivers, float bowl gaskets, polish wheel, paint and other sundries ready to go as well. All the while following the tutorial provided via theGSresources and BassCliff's site.

I feel like I'm earning my Eagle Badge here.

Thanks Pete. It's comming along. I'm still in denial about the cover. I keep telling myself that it will turn up. But I've turned the garage upside down and still haven't found it. Aaahhhh!!!!!!

Oh well. It is what it is right? Gotta laugh about it. I call that "paying the stupid tax."
