Hmmm, 600 engine in a golf cart, quite a trike !
It does can't you see the red stripes? The golf cart is actually a 4 wheeled one , it is a older Club Car. I did one about 7-8 years ago , I put a Honda CX 650 v twin in one. It went good, fast as hell and would burn the tires right off of it. The gearing was a little low, you could take off in third gear spinning the tires. and if I had locked the rearend I am sure you would have no problem drifting it. Problem was I didn't lift it so it didn't have much ground clearance. Asphalt use only pretty much. Oil pan would hit on rough terrain pretty easily. Before I had a chance to correct it a guy came along and offered me stupid money so it went bye bye.

Well I haven't had alot of time to do much with this skunk but I did pull the carbs and go through them, strip, dip and good cleaning with new o-rings and gaskets. They have been sitting in the shop for a couple weeks. Well I found some time today and figured I'd change the oil , and throw the carbs on and fire it up as I hadn't really heard it run anymore than a jump box and a squirt of fuel in the intake tube's. Well got oil changed carbs on [ no air box just some rags wire tied over the throats] hooked up the I-V line and fired it up. The bike hasn't been run on the road since 88' . Well the motor sounds ok no real noise's that alarmed me but the smoke it was producing cause's me some concern, I realize I was going to get some from the trans fluid I squirted in each cyl the day I brought it home but this thing smoked pretty steady for a good 6-7 min, then I shut it down as I didn't want to over heat it. So as this winter gets under way I'll get to play with it some more. Oh and I also have to go pick up a gift a friend gave me , it is another 78 Skunk, I'll be the second owner of this one.

Get you an old furnace blower fan and wire it to the high speed wire. Sit it on a milk crate and wire it to the crate. Stick it right in front of the jugs and let it rip. This is an excellent source of plenty of air to let it run for a good long time without any worries of overheating. I would let itm run a good 20 minutes or so and then shut her down...well after it has stopped smoking.

If it sits a wweek or so after that and the seals are bad, she will most likely smoke again for a few minutes upon restarting. This will at least give you an indication. Now the question is this..is it using oil at an alarming rate or just needs a few ounces now and then.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

We'll see , I am going to run it again in a day or two when I get a chance. Then I have to decide what I want to do with it. The one I'm bringing home this week is pretty clean, so I may leave one stock , and do a retro mod to the other. I have a ZX9 I am pretty disappointed in that could turn into a donor towards the retro mod.

My 80 1000G has a oil consumption addiction, but I have learned to live with it, it don't smoke but it still uses some, about a half qt every 6-7 hundred miles. If you love something, sometimes you have to learn to live with the addiction's.

Well I bolted the header back on this bike I picked up today , changed the oil and threw the carbs on from the other 1000 as they have just been gone through. , put a battery in and fired it up. it sounds good now motor noises, revs well clutch works goes through the gears good. This bike is in much better shape then the other, so it will be the one that I put back stock, and I will modify the other . More projects oh boy

I don't think I've ever seen an E with the standard tank on it

Is the tank in good shape?

Yes the tank is in good shape, It is in better shape than the black one, but has a few small dents to deal with. The black tank is rusty inside and out but I should be able to repair it .
