I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well I got her out again today(finally),till running not up to what I think a 1000 should. It was surging a bit like it wanted to go better.I was stoging around headed home contemplating pulling the carbs when I though "Lets try that".Popped into first and whacked open the throttle, didn't want to do more than 7000ish then all of a sudden it went up to the redline.Guess there was a bit of a blockage in one carb as all it did is get better after the "Italian tuneup":D

Went though the carbs when I had to have my wife come with the pickup because the bike lost power.Fixed a few issues but it will still barely run.Thinking it might be the old Martek so I pulled that and here's the thread http://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...rtek-Dyna-S-and-points-info-needed&highlight= .Since I want to get her running http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?233648-Dyna-S-for-a-78-1000&highlight= .
On the brighter side my rear MC was leaking and giving me a long pedal so I got an OEM kit for it.While it was out I zinc plated all the hardware http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?233609-Been-doing-some-zinc-plating&highlight=

Looks good and I now have a rear brake on a bike that doesn't run right:p

Apologies for coming in late on the exhaust chat but I've just seen the thread for the first time...

On this side of the planet where the population is sparse, the chance of finding an OEM exhaust in any condition is even more so. I really wanted to get a 4 into 2 system that resembled the OEM (by squinting a bit). I got creative and mated a new set of MAC 4 into 2 headers to a new pair of Dunstall reverse cone mufflers. I was careful to choose the correct length muffler that finished near the back of the rear tyre, as per the originals. I got a local auto muffler shop to make up a couple of short adapters then got them chromeplated.

I hope that gives you something to consider before you dispose of the Dunstalls.

Seal Pup..search feature. type in FRANKENPIPES. My thread about using several sets to make a good one should pop up.

Who's ditching the Dunstalls? Not me.The MARTEK ignition system is giving me grief. The few times it was running really good there was no muffler problems I could perceive.Good stock systems are hard to find here to which is why I'm REALLY glad I didn't sell them.

Got my new Dyna and installed it.Then proceeded to knock the rear module off it's base turning the engine with a wench instead of a ratchet and socket:mad:Damn I'm getting tired of this stuff:hororr:

After more than a few hassles with Dynatek then FedEx we finally got the out of warranty unit.Installed it today and it works great with the "new" coils I got, bypassed the stock wires and put the new coil wires into a bundle with the new horn wires I've run.All looks way neater now and it (finally) runs on all 4 cylinders:dancing:I'll finally get to ride it after the morning frosts that bit me in the azz with the 750 go away. Now that it seems to be running good I can get to some fine tuning of the carbs:eagerness:

Well after a LOOOOOOONG winter's sleep I finally got a bit of a ride today.A left turn signal issue (loose wire:rolleyes:) so I cut it short.Once I got that sorted it was time to get the timing light on it.With a bit of twitting I got a strong strobe. The advance works to.Man it's a strong bike now that it all works:D

Went out again in the afternoon for a bit more shakedown.

For a town by the ocean it is surprisingly hard to find a spot to get a nice pic with it :-\\\Had some issues now resolved(I hope).

Still running poorly:mad:But did some playing with the petcock while riding,as soon as I switched to prime it would be OK,back to on and problems.Looking at the clear vacuum I just put in you can clearly see a gas mist going though it. Guess my original assessment that the petcock was toast was right.Going to see if and how much the local dealer can get the 44300-44011 for.Canada's MC Supperstore lists them as available for $199 but when you try to add it to the cart I get an error message:topsy_turvy: Will see how much for a 44300-45011 750/850 petcock to.The other idea is to go for a manual $30 USD petcock from Parts N' More with a $8.50 USD adapter plate and $4 USD 90 degree turnout for the outlet it would be cheaper. The downside is I've got used to not worrying about turning the fuel off, decisions decisions.

Condensation will accumulate in the vacuum line. Don't mistake that for back flowing of fuel. My old mercury sync gauge used clear tubes and quite a lot of condensation would be visible in those tubes.

Air is also choking off the fuel at low RPM's and that disconnecting the vacuum line to synch the carbs made it run nice.Either way it looks like the petcock is the problem.

I know that people on here have had less than sterling results with rebuild kits, but I used a kit on mine years ago and it is still working fine.

With some discussion it's been decided to get this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/291675152778?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT petcock rebuild kit.Yes I can see the  going.I just want to keep a stock petcock and $300+ is just to much to spend.Don't really what to do the futzing around to put a 750/850 one in either. With every thing on mine in pretty good shape this should work.Going to take special care on the O ring seat.

Thanks that is encouraging. It feels like the right decision.

Well I managed to get the 83 750 petcock hooked up wit a bit more fuel line than I would like but on just idling it's already way better.Off for a ride!:dancing:
Still going to get the rebuild kit for the 1000 petcock but I just want to enjoy the riding weather:D

No such luck, the 750 petcock seems to do exactly the same thing as to 1000 one:dispirited:Back to waiting:(

Have you tried running it set to prime - with and without the vacuum line attached? Blocked when not attached of course...
