    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just bought another junker

Not any progress since breaking my left hip Saturday evening and getting screws and a steel plate installed Sunday morning.
I FINALLY found a GOOD excuse not to ride or work on any bikes, eh? :encouragement:

we shoot horses when they brake a leg..
damnit Jim!

The worst part is that I had just picked up the machined pistons and was ready to hang them, install cylinder and head.
Swing arm is due to arrive Thursday. It should have been up and running by the end of next week! Arrrr!
Hopefully, by Thanksgiving now...

The only way that this is bike related is that I had the box of pistons in my arms at the time. I have never laid down a street bike except while parked in the driveway.
Come to think of it, I have never broken a single bone on a dirt bike either.

you didn't hurt the pistons did you?
OMG!
was this just a freak accident...like tripping and landing wrong?

Ya, tell us you didn't damage the pistons!!! if you're layed up for more than 4 days I'm coming down there with my pickup truck ;)

Disclaimer: No pistons were harmed in the making of this film...

No Ray Rea involvement in this build. Thus the machining of the pistons to avoid adding any extra holes to them. ;)

No body cast but I do get these pieces of jewelery removed this Friday...

Then, it is back to doing cartwheels. ;)

I cant wait to see if you sell any prints of that at 46.99. May be a good one to stick on the fridge as a diet aid.

I have found out that climbing up stairs is far easier than going down with crutches and an injured hip. I just cannot do nothing until I get these staples out and heal so,
I hobbled out to the shop a few times so far and did get to thinking of some new ideas for the handle bar anyway. If I decide to use the '86 GS550ES risers and cut these drag bars,
perhaps I can not only get slightly wider bars but also adjust them to a comfortable angle. (< that will have to wait until I have a rolling chassis and the seat installed)

I also found this evil visitor that is not paying rent!

She got a little too close to me so she got evicted!!!

Thank goodness she didn't influence the build. I cannot imagine a black widow themed Suzuki being stylish.

I get the code in the signature. Spinal tap. Don't know about the other one.

Yes, the signature is from Nigel's line about his amplifier in Spinal Tap. Since the original poster wondered what the bike was worth, I gave my judgment that I'd ask for it for free. If that. Because it's going to be a lot of work. It was a wonderful bike but...how much time, money, and skill do you have to put into this? Whether it's worth it, only the restorer can say.

I made it back from the Doctor's after driving myself there (automatic transmissions DO have a purpose every once in a long while), picked up some conversion bearings for the rear wheel,
went to my metric supplier and got some new axle lock nuts, spacers, shims, etc. I was on my feet WAY TOO LONG today but, I did get a large prescription for some more pain relievers that
are a little less powerful for daytime use so I can get some things done. ;)
When the Doctor filled out the form for my excused time off of work, I told him that his pen wrote typos! He wrote that I would be off of work for 4-5 MONTHS rather than WEEKS.
I also asked him if I could go skiing later this weekend and he said no. (< can you believe that?) Anyway, here is a pic just before the staples were removed...

It looks to me that it should be stronger now because it is reinforced just like re-bar in concrete. ;)

Also, some parts arrived from Parts outlaw this afternoon while I was out. Yeah! :encouragement:
It sure is nice that a GSR forum member has done so much business with and is friends with them that all I have to do is type his last name (BANG) in the promo code box for FREE SHIPPING!
That nice guy saves GSR members tons of money on shipping. New choke cable and a bunch of small rubber frame bits in less than a week and only $14.00 TO MY DOOR!!! Wow!

Should you schedule an extra hour before boarding any flights? If they do have those body scan xrays, could some lame brain tsa agent confuse the profile of your new attachment?

Thanks for the tip on Parts Outlaw. I hadn't heard about that trick, but sounds like a great guy to get that set up for all of us.
